Can anyone identify these birds?

We saw them today in a group of about 16, pecking across mowed grass next to the sea. They look like plover, but had no white at their necks. Excuse the rubbish picture, they would not stay still.

THANK YOU! I couldn't find anything quite like them but I looked up turnstones and there they were.

They were cute little things and quite feisty with the dogs scampering around.

Nice! I had a job identifying turnstones earlier this year, hadn't seen them before.

I would love that job (although I would be shit at it, as we have established today )
