Bombay potates

I made a curry in the slow cooker last night and the only potatoes we have in the house are minted potatoes.

Mint usually goes well with an Indian (the yogurt and mint dip).

Can I turn these into Bombay ones? Any ideas?

What are minted potatoes?

Ready made minted potatoes? In what form, in a tin, in a chilled ready meal form, frozen?

I wouldnt use tinned potatoes, they have a funny taste in my opinion

Could you rinse them off first? So they're not so, well, minty?

gocompare · 31/12/2023 18:08

I have microwaveable ones with the mint butter already on

I am asking because I made a rage sauce a couple of years ago and added oxo which fucked it up. Everyone was laughing at me on here 🤦🏽‍♀️.

So this time I am asking first before I do anything lol

I think you should just serve them as they are

Rage sauce sounds great, perfect for MN

coxesorangepippin · 31/12/2023 18:12

I'd add a bit of garlic and chilli powder to your minty spuds

DerekFaker · 31/12/2023 18:12

I think they'll be fine, personally.

Createaplant · 31/12/2023 18:13

yeah that sounds doable.

Mxflamingnoravera · 31/12/2023 18:17

They'll be fine, make sure your sauce is nice and spicy.

Haha I meant ragu.

It was just a tomato based sauce. It was awful.

So if I add garlic salt, maybe a bit of paprika? Then fry off a bit in the pan?

Or just leave as they are?

I don't think that the mint butter will make the Bombay potato dish unpleasant. If you have all the usual spices then the mint will probably be drowned out by the stronger flavours. I would just try to remove as much of the mint and butter as possible before you start.

Do you have any garlic and ginger paste to fry them off in ? Add some chilli and also spinach. They'll be lovely
