Does anyone know what this is?

DD 17, has just come home and been really, really sick and is in a bit of a state. She claims to be drunk, but I’m not sure. Found this in her pocket. It smells a bit like cola bottles and is a sticky, almost liquid substance. No labels or writing on the packet at all - has anyone got any idea what it might be? I have asked her and she said she didn’t know.

Edibles that have melted?

0wlnoises · 30/12/2023 00:24

My first thought was also sweets or something that have melted in her pocket. Do you know how much she's drunk - would it account for her being that sick?

Deathbyfluffy · 30/12/2023 00:27

They look like edibles.
She’s almost certainly been on something and is passing it off as being drunk instead

SpottyCats · 30/12/2023 00:28

Thanks for the replies. She’s only been out for an hour or so, so I’m not sure she’d have had time to get that drunk. I don’t know, something seems a bit off. She just doesn’t seem drunk. Feels like something different but I don’t know what.

How do her pupils look? Is she likely to have taken something or is it more like she's had her drink spiked? If you ask her the latter, how does she react? Might be worth suggesting you report it and see if she then comes clean. If she really has just been drinking and only been out for an hour then I'd be concerned.

festivetinseling · 30/12/2023 00:30

If you are really worried, then seek medical advice.

Shouldershoulder · 30/12/2023 00:32

They're definitely edibles , if she's only been out for a short time then I would say she's probably taken something.

SpottyCats · 30/12/2023 00:33

She’s had a shower and gone to sleep. I didn’t think to check her pupils. It was only when I was picking her coat up off the floor I found it.

It's the large cola bottle gummy sweets that have melted / been squished.

I recognise the packaging. You can buy them from corner shops etc

Lilolily · 30/12/2023 00:35

definitely edibles.

Keep an eye on her overnight (unless you're really worried, in which case definitely seek medical help). Sounds like you need to sit down and have a serious conversation tomorrow morning.

Namchanged · 30/12/2023 00:39

Some drugs are designed to look like sweets do you think maybe someone tricked her into it

SpottyCats · 30/12/2023 00:39

She seemed much better by the time she went to sleep. Definitely not enough time to have sobered up if she’s been drunk. I will keep an eye on her overnight. I can’t sleep anyway.

if shes that out of it, get her on her side when shes in bed, head on the edge with the bucket, JIC. Being sick, when practically comatose ( obviously I dont know if she is or not ) isnt good

Yellowbricks28 · 30/12/2023 00:41

She’s eaten half of one by the looks. Ask her tomorrow morning and if she denies say “ok I’ll give one a try” and see her reaction

SpottyCats · 30/12/2023 00:42

I don’t think she’s been tricked, unfortunately. She started a new college in September and has made new friends. She’s started vaping and I’ve had suspicions about weed recently. I can’t decide how best to handle it. She knows I don’t approve of the vaping and I haven’t had any evidence to prove anything else yet.

Looks like edible cannabis. If she only took them an hour ago they could be yet to kick in properly, she could be in for an interesting night! A lot of them are made with cheaper antihistamine and passed off as weed. In which case she'll have a very dry throat in the morning!

SpottyCats · 30/12/2023 00:44

She was quite chatty by the time she went to sleep. Definitely not comatose or how I would expect her to be if she was drunk.

0wlnoises · 30/12/2023 00:52

Hmm. Sounds like it could be weed - possibly mixed with alcohol. I have no idea about edible cannabis but I know that a mixture of alcohol and weed can make you very sick. That combined with chattiness suggests she's not just drunk, anyway.

itsmeagainagain · 30/12/2023 00:55

gosh that's so scary how like sweets they look - imagine young kids getting their hands on them or someone tricking you -

SpottyCats · 30/12/2023 00:56

I’ve just been googling the side effect of edibles and I’m fairly sure that’s was she’s taken. She was very pale and was very sick. Just checked on her and she’s in a deep sleep.

threecupsofteaminimum · 30/12/2023 01:48

I wouldn't have thought CBD edibles would come her to be unwell. I suspect they may have been ones with THC in for her to react like that.

Your plan to tell her you'll try one will confirm!

SpottyCats · 30/12/2023 01:54

She is still sound asleep. I’ll suggest trying some myself in the morning and she how she reacts.

The more I’m lying awake thinking about it, she has come home on a few occasions and been sick which she’s blamed on whatever she’s had for lunch. I’m now thinking this maybe isn’t the first time she’s taken something.
