"CV" for my 15yo?

DS has just turned 15, and keen to earn his own money.

I'm planning to take him into town so that he can make contact with cafés / restaurants and other places that may consider young, weekend staff.

Bearing in mind he doesn't have a CV, what would the expectations be from potential employers?

I was thinking a one pager with contact details inc DOB, availability, current GCSE subjects (inc predicted grades, which are excellent?) and a brief personal statement of sorts?

Would this be overkill? How have your DC landed their first Saturday jobs?

(Just trying to be supportive as opposed to a helicopter parent, btw!)

My 15yo made a 1 page CV that was basically

  1. Name / photo / contact details
  2. Personal statement ("I am a 15 yo student in grade 10 at XY school, and I'm looking for a part time job....")
  3. Extra curricular stuff that makes him look good (school rep for X, won Y award, volunteered for Z)
  4. Personal attributes (hard working, flexible, polite and friendly etc)

He altered it a bit depending on what he was applying for (said he was looking for experience in the hospitality industry when applying to be a waiter, bigged up his passion for football when applying to be a mini-tots soccer coach)

Name, education history and awards, volunteering history eg also included in school volunteering, extracurricular achievements eg testing and competition levels, first aid + cpr.

Put together a package which reflected abilities and achievements plus cover letter to talk about self and why a good match for the position, what value they’re bringing and how it would also help support own long term goals
