Claw Machine from The Entertainer

Has anyone got this and actually got it to work?! Santa bought this for DS. He took it out the box on Christmas Day, and one of the joy sticks broke off in his hand.
To be fair to The Entertainer, they dispatched a new one. However, I've put the batteries in, and nothing happens. Tried some batteries in the original one, and that doesn't turn on either 😭. Any ideas please? Thanks!

Something wrong with the batteries? Batteries the wrong way up? It needs more batteries in a separate compartment? It's got one of those plastic tabs that needs to be pulled out before it works?

I've tried new batteries, and checked the machine all over. No tab to pull out. I've also got a second person to check the batteries are all in the correct way 😂

We had the exact same battery issue on two as well, although my daughter bought it with pocket money rather than for Christmas. She didn't want a replacement in the end as she was s bit fed up so we got something else sorry!

@Trainstrike at least I know it's not me! Hopefully they'll give me my money back and DS can get something else. I don't really want to try another one, as I'm running out of excuses as to why Santa is sending him something that doesn't work 😂

Not exactly the same toy but something similar - an arcade coin pusher machine. We found out through reading another review that one of the battery spaces is very slightly too large for the battery we had so it wasn’t connecting - you could see the smallest ring between the connector and the battery when looking closely. The review said it works with Panasonic but we bought some Energiser and that also worked luckily. So annoying when it’s from Father Christmas! Good luck
