Moment you realised "OMG I really like them"

Been reminiscing about my past crushes and those moments when you were overcome with affection.

I've been curious to hear others stories. Just for the sake of it

First time, I was a tween and a crush ruffled my hair and said "you're such a good friend you know". I blushed profusely.

Next was probably 6th form when I told them a really crappy joke but it made them burst out laughing and I felt gooey inside.

At university I had coffee with someone I thought I fancied. Had a nice chat and I just felt so happy when they gave the hug to say goodbye. And yes I smiled after they complimented how I looked.

Single currently and haven't fancied anyone for a while. So just reminiscing.

Now-DH and I were out a walk and someone dropped a glove from their pocket. He picked it up and tapped them to give it back but when I saw that- I thought this man is it.

This is very specific and sounds ridiculous, but this is how I realised that DH was the one (26 years ago).
We lived in a student flat of 12 random people. Some people were not keen on doing their washing up and it accumulated round the sink, festering.
until one day, one flatmate put it all in several bin bags and locked it in the toilet.
Now DH liberated it from the toilet, and washed all of it up (none of it was his) and put it back where it belonged because he could not stand the childishness or drama.
I was only 19, but that was when I realised he was a real actual proper grown-up. This is the sort of person you want to spend your life with.

There's someone I often see in passing, and one day I looked and realised I likes them. Neither of us were in a position for anything to happen, so I just had to keep it to myself.

I wonder what would have happened in another world.
