Missing when you could just turn up somewhere and pay without looking at a zillion websites to find availability for basic stuff. Found a family swim available in two hours - £30 for 50 minutes. Sigh.

Yep.

We had a family
Of four ticket to go to a Xmas light festival.
Was absolutely awesome don't get me wrong but that plus a drink and something each from a food stall was £100.

dothehokeycokey · 29/12/2023 12:46

Sorry forgot to say it was about 1.5 hours for the whole thing

LlynTegid · 29/12/2023 13:54

Agree with you about being able to just turn up. Local cinema for weekday screenings is about the only thing where I can do this.

TeaWithASplashOfMilk · 29/12/2023 13:55

Sounds lovely, but costs rack up quickly.

£30? And I bet you had to book in advance, download the app, whore all your personal details etc?

...and pay for parking. Enquired how much for an annual pass whilst there. £400 adult. £200 child. It was bloody cold too.

Four hundred quid?! No wonder everyone is so fat.

I can remember going swimming in the late 80s at the pool in Swiss Cottage, 20p. Copthall was a more classy gaff, 35p I think. Granted you've had inflation, but even so.

baileybrosbuildingandloan · 29/12/2023 17:14

Agreed. Swimming is a real luxury these days. Me, DD26 and 3 DGD = £45. Once a month tops.

So £1200 for a family of four to local pool! Private school near us used to do general swims on the weekend for £5 an adult, free for kids, so maybe I'm out of touch. They stopped general swims after lockdown.

It's £6 for an adult to just turn up at our local pool, you can book if you want

TeaWithASplashOfMilk · 29/12/2023 18:33

That sounds simple and good.
