I need to ask for part of gift back - it ended up in the wrong bag!

I gave a few different Christmas gifts to an aunt in a small Christmas bag. I'd accidentally thrown in something that was gifted to me by someone else as I'd a car full of stuff and was moving things around. I'd like to have it back as, although it's not expensive, it means a lot. Would it be okay to explain to my aunt what happened or just leave it? There was already 3 things in the bag for her.

Yes, do it asap, just explain the situation.

Just message and explain. Do it sooner rather than later so less time to feel anxious and she’s less likely to have used it (if this applies-no idea what it is!)

Why wouldn't you ask for it back? 😕 I'm sure she'd understand.

I’d explain to her, it’s easily done

Thanks for replies. I wasn't sure if it's cheeky/rude!

Message her and say you have mislaid a gift you were given and wondered if it had got mixed up with her gifts. That way it sounds like you are searching for it and aren't sure if it went in with hers or not.

caringcarer · 29/12/2023 10:37

I'd let her keep it but buy yourself another.

Not cheeky at all. Explain what happened and ask for it back. Mistakes happen!
