DP and I are getting married in early 2025 so we're a long way off yet but we want to start TTC as soon as we're married so want to make sure we've got enough in savings. We're trying to work out how much we need to save. We already have the wedding savings so anything we save between now and then would just be for mat leave + if we can afford it a cheap UK honeymoon. Obviously we've looked at essential outgoings (commuting for DP, rent, bills, food, nappies etc) vs income but I don't necessarily want to be scraping by on the bare bones if at all possible. How much extra did you budget for outgoings on top of the essentials during maternity leave? For reference we currently each have £400 for our own spends per month which includes our own phone bills, lunches at work, books, clothes, hair, any coffees lunches or meals out, takeaways, saving for Christmas and birthdays etc but tbh that to me seems quite high and I'd happily cut back if it meant we were more comfortable whilst I'm on mat leave.
