Did your 4 year old get any good presents you can recommend?

I struggle with his January birthdays after buying all my ideas for him for Christmas!

Did anyone's 4 year olds get good Christmas presents that have proven to be a hit already?

Tonie box, sling poop from Temu along with the frog card game. Slime and bubble experiments were a hit too, also glitter tattoos x

Hungry hippos!

CuteCillian · 28/12/2023 22:07

Tonie box here as well, and Sylvanian family camper van.

Probably a bit "luck of the draw" but my 4 year old loved this. We picked up a TootToot Vtech Garage and Police Station and some TootToot track from eBay in a job lot for £20 locally and it's not in mint condition and needed a wipe down to get the dust off it but it's been a massive hit in our house. He loves that it's basically a train set but for cars. He loves that his two TootToot cars can go on it and their lights and sounds are set off by various SmartPoints. He loves that his Hot Wheels cars can fit on the ramps and he really loves being able to design and build his own tracks that include the two buildings. It takes up a bit of room in the house but it's really good quality stuff and I'm very happy with it. I'm considering getting him another playset from the range for his birthday, maybe one of the Cory Carson ones, as they're supposed to all be compatible.

He also loved a Lego Porsche that we picked up in a supermarket (I think Sainsbury's) for £15. It said it was for age 9 but it was a nice project for DS and DH that has lasted 3 days.

By comparison he's barely glanced at his "big" present, yet (a set of books, which he requested himself). 🤣

Yes, we also have some 9+ Lego sets which have gone down well. He likes to do them with an adult and so they're complex enough for it to become a proper project.

Whoopie cushion and slinky were this year’s hits.

Also Zingo and Dinosaur Escape board games.

ComfyBoobs · 28/12/2023 22:29

Magnatiles

iusedtohavechickens · 28/12/2023 22:32

Also zip links! Great fun with a slow mo camera x

Ds also turns 5 next month (and dd turns 2 because i suck at planning!). His biggest hits were a bike, a wooden railway set with rc trains (shared with his sister) and little live pets lamb. For his birthday he's getting an rc monster truck, a puzzle, a wooden mechanical dino puzzle thing, a switch game.

Mountainhowl · 28/12/2023 22:37

Robbiebot
Art case
A big cardboard colour in jeep (brother gifted this so not sure where from)
Play doh and basic play doh factory

For his 4th birthday in march we're getting him a pedal bike as he's mastered his balance bike

We got our four year old this as a random sensory type toy for a stocking filler and he absolutely loves them ( as do we all) they are fun to twist and connect and make weird noises. For the price, he’s had hours of fun already despite having much bigger presents these have been played with loads.

berrypop · 28/12/2023 22:45

Slime, slime and more slime 🙈

I'm glad I googled little live pets because I really thought for a bit that you'd bought him a pet lamb and were just casually throwing it in as a suggestion for OP.

Magna tiles. Nothing else had got a look in.

My DD loved her yoto player, pets alive pooping puppy and her robodog Ziggy from Smyth's. Also her proper pogo stick!

Namechangedforspooky · 28/12/2023 23:00

One of those pens with multiple colours
Also the Crayola glow box was a big hit!

Namechangedforspooky · 28/12/2023 23:01

Also hungry hippo!

MotherOfCrocodiles · 28/12/2023 23:03

Octoray.

Teddybear120 · 28/12/2023 23:04

He got it last year when he was 3 but gets used daily both at bedtime and during day- Yoto player. He got a couple of duplo cards and now he plays with his duplo while listening to them.
Otherwise hits have been his Magnatiles and a VTech zoom camera.

EcoCustard · 28/12/2023 23:19

Ds 4.5 loved his giant Squishmallow, fire boat Lego set that floats in the bath, Playmobil bin lorry and his whoopee cushion more than the others so far. He has also not put down his die cast planes Grandma brought him. Playdoh is a massive hit here.
