Not to make resolutions I won’t keep 😉

ThreeRingCircus · 28/12/2023 22:03

To cook one new recipe a week.

mrsbyers · 28/12/2023 22:04

Strawberrycheesecake7 · 28/12/2023 22:05

Pass my driving test and get a car.
Adopt another rescue dog.

ssd · 28/12/2023 22:06

Whats doom scrolling?

mothtoaflame · 28/12/2023 22:20

Read more fiction, spend less time on social media and save more, spend less (specifically buy fewer clothes).

Toooldtoworry · 28/12/2023 22:22

To get some peace in my life, so less social media and being more present.

halfpasteleven · 28/12/2023 22:36

To believe in myself more.

Whats doom scrolling?

You know, like constantly scrolling on TikTok or Facebook/YouTube Shorts etc just scrolling mindlessly hoping for a good one. People waste hours on it.

I waste 45 minutes of my life each time. Haven't seen anything interesting or really funny or anything.

Going to spend the Doom Scrolling time to read books/newspaper

Similar, but I started it about a week ago. I reset my iPad and have not installed any social media, email, anything that will allow me to be anything but switched off and relaxed on the sofa/in bed. I turned off all push notifications on my phone. None of my emails are important enough for me to need to read them at 9pm at night. I don't want a 9am ping on FB about a mate's birthday. My mates on messenger don't need instant replies. Basically, everything can wait. I have been allowing my devices to demand constant attention and I am not having it anymore. It means my brain is always switched on and stimulated, when it needs to be relaxed and chilled out to deal with everything that happens when you do come to doom scroll.

The BBC front page at this precise moment in time is absolutely horrific, for example.

Second goal is to be patient enough to wait for the RIGHT house to come along to buy, not just the first house that will just about do and get us out of a rental we hate.

Delassalle · 28/12/2023 23:24

Complete each crochet project before starting a new one so that I'm not left with lots of WIPs!

Blahblarbleh · 28/12/2023 23:35

Speak less, listen more - basically stop giving my opinion or story. Work slightly smarter (took on way too much this year). Drink less.

Bonjovispjs · 29/12/2023 00:12

To eat more chocolate because I know that's one I can stick to 🤣

marmiteandminticecream · 29/12/2023 05:19

to end my relationship with a guy ive been seeing fot 14 months
i've been thinking about it for the last 4 months but i couldn't find the courage as i don't want to hurt him
it's got to the stage where when i see his name light up on my phone i roll my eyes
he deserves better
i'm dreading it

Iwanttheraintostop · 29/12/2023 06:46

To become spiritually rich in Jan so plenty of yoga, meditation, reading and walks in nature.

Ditching things that artificially give me an artificial dopamine spike so alcohol, social media, shopping (online and IRL).

LlynTegid · 29/12/2023 07:10

Never make them, if I am going to do something new or different I will try it for Lent.

Mummypete · 29/12/2023 07:15

Last year mine were -

Get a new job ✅
Vitamins every day ✅
Skincare every day
Reading every night
Minimal alcohol
Healthy eating

I did keep up the healthy eating and minimal alcohol for about 9 months but the last few months it’s all gone to pot. It also wasn’t on my list but I’ve managed to consistently keep up a regular gym routine all year which I’m quite proud of as I’ve previously always given up after a few months. We get married this year so I’ll be focusing on being as healthy and glowing as possible.
