Lip balm recommendations please!

My lips are a mess! So dry & cracked, I've been ill lately, had a blocked nose so a lot of breathing through my mouth and it's completely dried them out. Around the edge of my top lip it also stings like mad, just put some face cream on and it really stung 😩

I need a miracle lip balm that will hydrate and soothe them. I've got Nivea and Carmex to hand but not sure if those will cut it and don't want to make it worse.

Help!

Laniege, strangely the peach one works best for me.

When mine are really bad, I use Eucerin Acute Lip Balm.

JudyGemstone · 28/12/2023 21:21

Nuxe reve de miel is the best there is

Ambi · 28/12/2023 21:23

Oh my goodness I have a lip balm stashed everywhere, I really hate dry lips, especially this time of year. I do use a lip stain which is drying too.

My new favourite one is Nivea silver. I have this in my bedside drawer to use before bed as it is quite greasy. I'd recommend this for you.

I have the standard Nivea in my handbag, blisteze intensive moisturiser in the bathroom goes on first thing, burts bees in my work drawer. The Palmers cocoa butter was a really good one, I've run out of this one.

I’m telling you as someone who suffers from terribly chapped lips at this time of year, there are 2 saviours. That don’t cost the earth…
Body Shop Hemp lip balm and Burt’s Bees.

Eucerin Acute Lip Balm

timtam23 · 28/12/2023 21:46

It's not a lip balm as such, but Lansinoh cream is brilliant for sore chapped lips, a very tiny dab of it lasts for ages

This is the one and only for me

Me too, nothing compares.

OP, you have my sympathies as my lips are so dry at the moment it hurts the corners to open my mouth. I've grabbed some of this today and will apply a thick layer when I go to bed, it's normally done its job by the time I wake up, brilliant stuff.

They have a lip salve range now too, but the original cream/balm is the best as you say.

Elizabeth Arden 8hr lip repair cream, in a small glass pot. It's not cheap but lasts forever. I walk all weathers with my 2 dogs and it's the only thing that stops my lips from cracking in bad weather.

I have tried everything and this is by far the best.

PastTheGin · 28/12/2023 22:02

Another vote for O’Keefe’s!

SpreadHummusNotHate · 28/12/2023 22:05

Nuxe rêve de miel

Tomnooktoldmeto · 28/12/2023 22:06

Due to a health condition I’ve suffered like this for over 30 years with one patch particularly on my bottom lip always dry and scaly. I’ve tried everything. B vitamins helped to an extent but 18 months ago I tried a product called papaya Gold paw paw in a little pot. If completely repaired my lips and to this day they have stayed healed and healthy by just putting it on at bedtime

cringingatchristmas · 28/12/2023 22:11

Blistex Relief Cream is the mutt's nuts for lips that are already sore and chapped (it's the one in a tiny metal tube, you can usually find it in the medicines aisle alongside cold sore creams rather than with the other lip balms).
Once they're healed, Blistex in the blue pot, Carmex or something similar to keep them soft.

PattyDuckface · 28/12/2023 22:11

I've used millions and nearly all are crap. I live in a very cold climate.

Elizabeth Arden 8 hour lip protection
and
Berts Bees
are great though

I second this! I went through a phase of several months where my lips were constantly cracked and dry. My friend recommended this and it’s been my Lifesaver! Never have had the bad problems I had before, I love it and always keep it in my handbag

Blarn · 28/12/2023 22:15

O'keefs overnight in a little pot. Or lanolin.

You need to avoid anything with menthol, mint, cinamon etc. If it tingles then it is not helping your lips.

Blueuggboots · 28/12/2023 22:16

O'keeffe's overnight is great. I used blister Medicare as well. Make sure yours drinking plenty as well.

IIdentifyAsInnocent · 28/12/2023 22:24

Burts bees is the best one for me. It never stings and lasts well. Lots of lovely tastes too

Whisperingangel22 · 28/12/2023 22:28

Eve lom kiss mix

TheIsleOfTheLost · 28/12/2023 22:36

The minty Burts Bees is my go to for sore or dry lips. Pleasant tingle from the mint, not burning. It seems to actually sink in, instead of just sitting on top like vaseline or other petroleum jelly ones.

Copperoliverbear · 28/12/2023 22:37

Elizabeth Arden eight hour Or Chanel conditioning lip balm. X

This is the best one imo!

I’d agree with this

Amd the overnight one is worth getting too

Laneige is great. I also love Dr. Bronner. Try switching to fully plant based products if you're not getting on with carmex, Nivea, etc.
