How you can tell that someone has NEVER been on or heard of MN...

I speak to my neighbour relatively frequently, he talks about his dad's bipolar and alcohol usage. He came back early after Xmas because he said he couldn't stand the drunkenness and shouting and he's worried about his mother.

I tentatively asked if he'd spoken to his mother about leaving him and he said he said no, and she wouldn’t do that as they've been together since they were were very young.

It was so obvious he's never heard about anything like MN!! I'm all for helping people through problems but I can see how stressed out it's making him. Let alone his mother.

Go on, your turn :)

Some of us use cunning ruses to give the impression we have never heard of it. 'Oh, is that something to do with pregnancy advice?' Xmas Grin

If I ever say "there was a thread on Mumsnet about xyz" and the reply is "what's Mumsnet?" I only discovered it by accident long after it was of any use to me as a mum

This will out me to my sis but we have a running joke that rather than saying we read about it on MN, we say we heard it on Radio 4, to make us sound more intellectual.
