I’m an enthusiastic supporter of the Highway Code….particularly the bit about not parking on a pavement. Where I live others have taken their enthusiasm to the point where they have placed heavy planters on pavements. I don’t know the law inside out…but surely an obstruction on the pavement impedes pedestrians as much (if not more) than vehicles? The pavements in question are all narrow. At one point the road takes a 90 degree bend. Any buses/coaches/lorries have to overhang the pavement to get around the corner. The planters literally do not affect me as I drive a tiny car and am able bodied but I am irritated by these planters. In fact I really want to tackle the topic…..try and drag them away? Speak to the community council? Speak to the roads policing team? Local authority? Has anyone done similar?
