Expensive for underlay?

I've been quoted £500.00 for underlay!

The underlay I want to purchase is £104.00 for a 15.07 m2 roll. I have been advised to get 5 of these- costing just over £500.00- without the carpet grippers. Can anyone who is good at math confirm this is correct before I depart my money :(.

Here are the measurements:

Hallway, 515cm length, width 132cm
1st landing, 97cm length, width 92cm
2nd landing, 219 length, 125 cm width
Third landing, 170cm width, 159cm length
4th lan, 87cm length, 84cm width pupil pop,

5th land 94cm length, 79cm width
6th landind, 173cm length, 91cm width

1st bedroom, 380cm length, 354cm width
Second bedroom 465cm length, 379cm width
Sitting room, 459cm length, 371cm width
Stair, 79cm width, 18cm length
23steps or 29steps

Thank you :)

So a hallway, 6 landings, 2 bedrooms, a sitting room and stairs for 500£, yes I think that’s reasonable.

The landings (apart from the hallway) is small. It's like a normal square that you can put two feet on before you get onto the next step.

Glad you feel it is reasonable. I was worried that it may have been too expensive.

I can't actually be bothered working out the exact maths on all those measurements but that does sound pretty reasonable for all those rooms, landings and stairs. Do you know what the price is on the underlay per sqm?

Hi
I put it into a spreadsheet and the maths is right, if you have 29 steps then it comes up as 68.4068 m2 or 4.54 rolls
For 23 steps then it is 67.5536 m2 or 4.48 rolls

That's if you can cut the underlay carefully to fit the various shapes so none is wasted.

If you want to save on underlay then look at wool rich felt underlay on eBay, a 15sq m roll of 8mm underlay is less than £50. I have it in my house and it is lovely, dense and squishy underfoot.

So you could buy 5 rolls for £250. Gripper rods are cheap on eBay too

Also I am curious as to what kind of a home you live in that you have 5 landings!

Thank you.

I really wanted this underlay as it is thick.. 12mm and good for reduction of impact noise.

Grin

It's a maisonette flat but it has a town house style layout inside. So each stair case leads into a different room and the landings are very small (literally the space of when you put two feet together).

It comes in 12mm too, for about £60 a roll

£104 for 15m2 is about £7per sqm. Mine was £5.99per sqm for a mid range one about a year ago so that's about right, yes.
