I am hoping someone will be able to advise. I have a very old iPhone 7.

I want to upgrade to a newer iPhone (went to stick with iPhone as took me long enough to get used to this)

Can anyone recommend a good version of I phone at wont break the bank? Not worried about it being the lastest version as I like the slightly older ones with a button at the bottom and my charger fits (friends have shown me theirs without the same charger cable and no round button to press, I didn’t like it!)

I'm considering the most recent iPhone SE at the moment - I've had a first gen SE for about 5 years and had no issues with it. The 12 and 13 are a lot cheaper now the 15 is out - also interested to hear experiences!

I have an iPhone 11, reconditioned. I love it. Don’t worry about having no button at the bottom, you’ll soon get used it. My was €325, which I thought was a bargain. And it has a 2 year guarantee. I had a 7 previously, then an Xr. Just go the reconditioned route.

I've just got a new SE, an upgrade from an 8. It's basically the same phone in terms of looks and functionality and size but faster and hopefully better battery life!

Size was really important to me, I hate the new massive phones.

My only advice - which is no doubt superfluous, as it sounds like you want to buy outright anyway - is to…buy outright.

Sim-only deals are so much better than purchase plans with data.

As a pp has suggested, reconditioned has worked well for me in the past. After a year you’ve already made significant savings.

I don't know, but I'm in a similar situation so I'm hoping more people reply!

My iPhone 12 uses Lightning. But they may have changed. Would be USB C otherwise, wouldn’t it?

IloveJudgeJudy · 28/12/2023 19:47

iPhone 12 uses a lightning charger. They’re great phones. The home button is onscreen though.

I have an iPhone 13 mini and I absolutely adore it! It's a lovely size for my hands and bags and functions really well.

I also have an iPhone SE the latest model with work and like that too although the camera is better on the mini

Carsarelife · 28/12/2023 20:00

I've just upgraded from a 12 to a 15. The 12 will be fab for you, it's a great phone, can't find a fault with it.

ShakespeareInTurmoil · 28/12/2023 20:06

Much like you, until recently I had an iPhone 7. It was really giving up the ghost and I decided to upgrade to a second hand iPhone 11, 256mb.

it’s super and I really notice the difference in performance! Well worth it! Mine was a few hundred last year from CeX. Wish I’d done it yonks ago. I plan to run this one into the ground, as my last. And I will only ever have big memory again. It’s great not having to delete stuff and remove apps to free up space, as with my last.
