Slientnight heated throw - how hot is it supposed to get?

I got given a Silentnight heated throw for Christmas. I tried it for the first time last night and as per instructions for first use, left it on the max heat setting for at least 30mins but it felt barely warm.
I've tried it again this morning, it's on 10 for 45mins now and again, there's a bit of heat but not much. It's folded on the back of the sofa and is not warm to the touch but if I put my hand inside the folds it's warm.
If this is the top setting, it makes me think that the lower settings will be pointless!
What are others' experiences? Did I get a duff one or is this just how they are?

It sounds like a duff one to me.

I've got this one and it's absolutely boiling! It's a bit pricey, but I usually have it on quite low. It's roasting on full.

It's a duff one, they get really warm.

It’s not meant to be used folded up. Try it open and see if that makes a difference. Also doesn’t need to be super warm as a bit of warmth plus the fact it’s a blanket on you feels warmer anyway. We don’t have silent night ones but only ever use them on the hottest settings. They’re great though.

I had it spread out over me last night when it barely got warm so thought I'd try it folded today to "pre-heat" to see if that makes a difference.
It is a lovely soft throw and warm to snuggle under, I just thought it would be warmer
I'll perservere a while and then work out if I need to return

It might be better with another blanket over the top to keep it warmer?

I bought my mum one for Christmas (a GlamHome one from Robert Dyas) and was similarly underwhelmed. It’s cosy and definitely heads up a bit, but nothing like I was expecting.

I’ve got a slumberdown one. I’m permanently cold and when I had the throw over me I expected to be roasting. I was nicely warm but expected it to get warmer. However, when I got up and came back I realised it’s actually quite toasty! Maybe try getting up and coming back to feel the benefit 😂
