UberEats & McDelivery

So thought I'd treat the kids to McDonalds on Boxing Day. Tracked delivery but then driver stopped and tracking went off, driver phoned and hung up straightaway so couldn't answer phone - went outside to see where he was to get a text saying 'order delivered'

I tried to phone driver and he wouldn't/couldn't answer - phoned the customer service and they refuse to refund as the delivery has been delivered and driver has followed policy by phoning me.

I asked where he's delivered and GPS says half a mile away!

30 bloody 5 quid gone! I've complained to McDelivery and UberEats but they won't help - anyone had this?

Screenshot where it says delivery took place. Screenshot length of phone call.
Send both to ubereats customer service in an email.

The food was probably next to or in your blue bin or similar location.

I don’t know about you but my blue bin isn’t half a mile away from my front door.

DeepFriedKermit · 27/12/2023 23:25

My blue bin is defo not half a mile away lol - I'm so mad that they're saying the order was handed to me. I even had a message from driver saying he's too far away.

I've had a look at McDonalds T&C and the contract is with them not UberEats...when I called the customer service they said the contract is with UberEats not McDonalds. I know it's only £35 but how many times does this happen? I hope the people who got a free chicken nugget happy meal are happy

I had this and they initially refused to refund for the same reasons. I made an absolute nuisance of myself by repeatedly reporting the order under every category I could, including the driver was rude to me. I also contacted them via Facebook messenger. I did get my money back.

Ubereats are utterly rubbish with McDelivery. We tried it three times, and every time the driver kept changing, vanishing off the tracker, drinks were spilt, items missing etc.
Happily deliveroo now offer McDonalds, and the few times we've ordered from them we've not had any problems. Seems kind of odd because I know that a lot of drivers work for both companies, but uber were always terrible.

santastolemycat · 27/12/2023 23:56

We had a whole meal missing from our most recent order and phoned to get a refund which was denied as we had previously had too many refunds according to ubereats.
The reason for those refunds is because they also had items missing from our orders.
My husband emailed the CEO of Mcdonald’s and Uber Eats and he got a full refund and vouchers for free meals in the future.
You can get their email addresses from
CEOemail.com.
DH does this a lot and allways gets results.
He also sends nice emails when he feels companies/employees have gone above and beyond just in case you think he’s a wanker for complaining all the time :)

I've giving up ordering from anywhere after losing both a fish & chips order and a curry order in consecutive weeks. One because they said I didn't answer the door and one because they said they don't make curries.

It's impossible to get refunds from any of these companies.

AllIsWellish · 28/12/2023 00:13

Yep, the driver rang to say he didn't actually have the order but it was marked as couldn't get hold of me . I sent them screen shots of when he rang and so on and in the end Uber gave me my money back. I don't think it matters who delivers, mcdonalds never seem to be able to get an order right either

I've twice had misdelivered takeaways left on my doorstep. I live on a street where the opposite side is another street name and the numbers are all crazy. My door number is very clear though so I don't know why it happens.

I wasn't happy either time though.

Thank you so much for this - couldn't sleep this morning so pinged off an email to McDonalds CEO at 0130. Just got a reply refunding and voucher for 2 meals.
I know it's only £35 but it's the principle of the matter - how many people don't complain and they get away with shoddy service.
