3mths wfh abroad

I've got an opportunity to do my wfh job abroad for a chunk of time later this year (no dc or dependants) - probably September- December. I could basically do the full 3mth non visa allowed in Europe and other countries.

I'm looking for ideas. Countries that have a good balance of cheapish living costs - this is a critical factor as I'm still covering a uk property , longer term rentals and a bit of culture and beach life. Language not an issue - I'll work as per usual online, can cope with a bit of time difference, and am quite quick to pick up basic languages.

Has anyone done this or been somewhere that fits the bill?

The only digital nomads I know have spent time in Morocco. They found a small group of digital nomads so had a bit of a community set up.

Are you self employed or has your workplace given the OK? I only ask as we had an issue with someone at my workplace that had been working from Spain for two months and had not told anyone, they were disciplined as it was against some IT policies.

I’d jump at it if you can! But I’d defo just check income tax rules. 3 months is probably ok but you need to check local tax laws (that’s what we had to do when we’ve had those requests at work, in the end we said working abroad for 30 days max was enough not to start potentially getting complicated with tax)

Bali is very popular for digital nomads, also beaches and cheap.

I plan to do this in a few years time. Planning for Lanazarote.

Good luck.

Self employed so it's really simple - I could be anywhere. I've heard that Bali is a bit of a dump now (litter and not a tropical idile).I was thinking southern Italy (eating out is cheap) or maybe Spain but am really flexible would be great to have lovely places to go when not working. Getting a 3 month rental is the tricky bit and somewhere safe.

You should probably check the relevant taxation laws in the countries you're thinking of - it's certainly possible that some of them might consider you owe them tax if you're working in their country. And while it's probably all possible to sort out, it could add significantly to the admin hassle.

As I understand it, the 90 days visa free travel in the Schengen area, for example, is for tourism. If you are working, you would still need a visa. This might be the same for other countries - I would think it would.
