Have gone through the numbers on the Martin lewis MSE site, and still not sure whether to fix for 12 months or not?

Am wondering about the prediction in April 2024 about decrease in energy prices will happen...

I fixed with Octopus - have put it out of my mind now so l don't ever know if l did the right thing!

I have fixed with Octopus (electric only, we have no gas), and like the previous poster, will now forget about it until it's time to renew/change.
Octopus was telling me that my electricity price will increase in January, hence me fixing it now.

Do you have an electric car that you will be charging overnight? If so it is well worth the fixed deal that they have at the moment. If not their variable is much cheaper at the moment, you can always look to fix in the future

We’ve decided not to go for the fix right now.

I work in the industry and have decided not to fix.

We had the same dilemma and decided not to fix. If it hadn’t been for the £75 early termination charge for each fuel, we probably would have fixed.

I contemplated it, but decided not to fix for the moment. I'm hoping that prices might reduce next year, and/or more fixed prices will come available which will encourage competitive pricing.

SnowsFalling · 26/12/2023 14:34

Depends on how much you can't afford it to possibly rise.
But the prediction for next year (from Cornwall insights) seems to be 2 drops for April and July, then a rise in October.
I'm not fixing - but can afford for that to be wrong and prices to increase slightly.

Eon next pledge. £50 CHEAPER than the price cap for a year.

Choconuttolata · 30/03/2024 20:50

Only fix if it is 15% below current price like Eon next pledge which promise 3% below price cap even if it changes. Or if you fix at 13-14% below make sure there are no fees for leaving early as the price cap may reduce again in July. Octopus don't have fees for some of their deals so you could fix and then change in July if price cap goes down again. Price cap for April will be 12% below the current one.
