Work WA Christmas messages since dawn

Is it normal for a work WhatsApp group to be pinging all day Christmas Day (starting at 7am) with photos of colleagues' families, trees, gifts etc? Or is it a sign of a dysfunctional work environment and terrible boundaries?
DND is on but how to be the sole refusenik!?

@Rafting2022 but it is the point.
The messages annoy you and the OP.

The messages obviously don’t annoy those posting them or they wouldn’t do it.

So stop trying to control the narrative and control your social media notifications so you don’t have to look at the offending messages until you are back in work mode.

Dp's pinged a bit but that's his fault for not having a phone of his own, he chooses to use his work phone for private use not the other way around (as it has worldwide phone calls, texts and data it's pretty handy when travelling!)

I had mine muted.
My point was that at other workplaces we'd have been discouraged from posting in a work group on Christmas, and in this job my CEO has no boundaries.
It's not a social group, it's work, and I'd like a day off when I'm not expected to show up with a smile on my face.
I think it depends a lot on where you work and how you feel about the people you work with, but I still think a work WhatsApp group is for work. If you have an optional social WhatsApp group with colleagues then post away whenever you like.
Also as others have pointed out in a big group you can choose to opt out and no one will notice, but it's harder in a small group, where you're the obvious holdout who isn't a team player.
