GO THE FUCK TO SLEEP DD

Anyone else’s small child still awake?! 4 year old DD is still chatting away to me from her bed. I always sit in her room until she falls asleep, but usually she's asleep by 8 at the absolute latest! I know she is probably overtired, but I just want to go downstairs and eat chocolate arghhhhh

My 3yr old was so excited he didn't fall asleep until 10:20 last night and he's still awake now due to very long nap today. Need to shift him back to normalcy before nursery in two days!

I feel your pain. DD went to sleep like a dream last night - I was downstairs by about 7.20!!- do maybe this is payback

Sending sympathy op. It took me nearly an hour to get my nearly 2 year old to sleep. I put her down, got to wash up etc then finally sit down on the sofa - 10 mins into this she wakes up! I'm now back in the bloody rocking chair in her room! Didn't get to enjoy my mince pie, just kind of quickly ate the last half of it while settling dd. My drink is downstairs half finished, I am looking forward to getting back to drinking it. Early years is exhausting.

I feel your pain. I remember it well.

Yep. Was quiet for a bit and then started singing gibberish.

Luckily, we're seeing PILs tomorrow for Boxing Day so I bribed my 4 year old to go to sleep with the promise of more presents tomorrow.

Posting a thread on MN was clearly the answer. She fell asleep as I was posting for the second time!

Our 3 year old went down 15 minutes ago...the 11 month old is an overtired nut job crawling around everywhere and chucking stuff about.

Mine always just stayed up as long as they wanted on Christmas Day when they were little.
Me an DH aren't big TV watchers though and don't drink so we never wanted to do anything but play with them.
Bonus always was after two late nights (because what child sleeps Christmas eve) we always got a lovely long lie in on boxing day.
