How long for hives to clear?

A couple of days ago, i came out in itchy hives, all over my body. It comes and goes, mught flare up on my legs but ease on my neck, and when that calms down, appears on my arms etc etc.

Not sure what caused it, ive just come back from a winter sun holiday, so wondered whether it was the change in temperature, and then at work i was in a warehouse for a gin distillery so wondered whether i had touched something there that set it off?

Other than that, nothing has changed in regards to washing powder etc.

Ive never had hives before so no idea how long i should expect it to last?

If it carries on it's probably not allergy related, possibly spontaneous urticaria if it's persisting. Antihistamines should ease any discomfort.

Have you tried Piriton or similar?

A virus can sometimes cause hives

ChatterMonkey · 25/12/2023 20:45

Ive been having piriton most days, although just realised i havent had any today.

Ive also had a rotten cold since coming back from holiday, really snotty and congested, could it be linked with that and will pass once the cold passes?

Sorry if these are stupid questions, its not something ive ever experienced before so no idea what is 'normal'!

Could be post-viral hives, DS gets that and it always takes us by surprise. Keep going with the anti-histamine and pop to the pharmacy tomorrow, just for someone else to take a look at it. Pharmacists tend to be great with skin stuff.

Aah, it's probably linked to your cold. Hopefully it will pass soon 🤞🏼
