What is"nice" food to you?

I'm curious what people actually eat when they say they're going to treat themselves with some nice food.

I've long since lost my way with my diet - now that my dc are all grown and gone, I just can't be bothered. I actually feel like I've forgotten how to eat (and shop) properly. I'm not ready yet I don't think to make any changes, but I am interested to hear what people consider treat/nice food.

Anything I don't have to cook.

Something I don’t need to alter to fit other people’s tastes.

I can make it exactly as I want.

I like comforting food like braising steak and mash, crumble and custard.

treat food? Hmmm. I don’t know. I eat treat food every day! I love scrambled eggs, or a nice chilli jam. A lovely chorizo with pasta, tenderstem and cheese. Life’s too short not to eat what you love.

Love pie, gravy and mash!

Posh cheese, olives, smoked salmon, crab, cured meats..

I usually mean something a bit more expensive than a day to day meal. So a steak, roast lamb, some sushi, maybe a takeaway from our local Nepalese - that sort of thing. Potentially a pudding, which we don't have very often. Probably accompanied by some good wine!

Nice cheeses with biscuits and cured meats

A massive bowl of plain pasta with a tonne of good quality grated cheddar on top and a sprinkling of pepper

My fave crunchy wotsit crisps

Poppadoms and mango chutney

Scrambled egg on thick, crunchy seeded toast, with smoked salmon

Cheese for me. With crackers, grapes, chutney, onion marmalade, an apple, crusty bread.

Psychoticbreak · 26/12/2023 07:37

A platter with cheeses, crackers, olives, sweety drop peppers, cured meats, relish that kind of thing.
