Big fucking thank you to "non essential" workers who are working on Christmas Day.
Thanks to the hotel staff that means I can visit my son on Christmas day. The kitchen staff that meant I could get breakfast. The cornershop where I got some chocolates for the reception staff who i had forgotten to get chocolates for. The Indian takeaway that means I can actually eat some hot and tasty food on Christmas day and the weatherspoons where I could at least spend a small amount of the day outside the hotel room with a reasonably priced coffee.
I know historically I have felt greatful to the essential people who work, but this year I feel epically greatful to those people who aren't normally thanked but who are still working.
I've seen it on Facebook and social media where people are berated for creating a demand for services on Christmas day. I really want to shake them until they are greatful that their Christmas is so fab that they can't understand why someone might want or actually need these services Christmas time.
