Anyone else thought they were done but somehow I’m still wrapping!!!

Lulled myself into a false sense of security - had done the bulk of wrapping, or so I thought! I had left putting tags on all the presents and also wrapping the little presents that go in DDs’ stockings.
It’s taken me nearly 2 hours to get it all out from loft, organise into piles, tag everything and then wrap little Santa presents. Holy shit, I thought I was done!

Anyone else still up to eyeballs in sellotape?

I’ve wrapped everything. Just waiting for my 10 yr old to fall asleep, then I’ll get it all out and put tags on.

DH has gone to bed with her, which will hopefully speed her sleepiness up!

I’m currently enjoying half an hour to myself 😀

I feel for you JMAngel! It's not me tonight but it was a few years ago.

You'll get it done. Tomorrow will come and DC's face will be exactly what you aimed for when she sees all those little wrapped goodies!

Good luck!

I am eternally grateful to my mother who started the tradition of not wrapping presents from Father Christmas. Presents from family were always wrapped, (and opened in the afternoon) but presents from FC were just carefully arranged on a chair in the livingroom. I have continued this with my own off-spring and it saves so much time (and wrapping paper). Good luck to the wrappers!

I’ve got 2 left to wrap as one arrived this evening by Amazon (dh twitched!) and the other was too big and been in garage. I can’t wrap yet as wrapping in loft with presents and dd1 struggling to get to sleep. Sat here desperately hoping dd falls asleep soon.

flatpack1 · 24/12/2023 22:52

ive wrapped for hours and hours. 10 bazillion presents but done now

FreshWinterMorning · 24/12/2023 22:55

Yes I thought I was done - and yet I just wrapped five more presents to take with me to my family tomorrow. In fact, I'm going to bed in about 10 minutes, coz I've got to be up about 8:45 am tomorrow, as we're going to be spending the day at my older daughter's house that she shares with her husband.- And my younger daughter's going to be there too with her lovely fiancé. The six of us together... I am looking forward to it so much. Grin

But they can see them all at once! No surprise after the first glance!
I wouldn’t like that (no criticism if it works for you though). Santa isn’t a very tidy wrapper, but he does wrap (or did, DD is 27 now…).

Titsywoo · 24/12/2023 23:23

All done by 8.30 tonight - I just wrapped for about 2 hours this evening. Luckily I have older teens who can be told to stay away so I could do it in front of the TV not hidden away in the bedroom.

This year did it all a bit different.. Took an afternoon off work to wrap stocking fillers and DH's gifts. Then did a massive present wrap last night of all the kids presents and put them straight under the tree (minus Santa's gift, and stocking bits of course) so kids have had Xmas eve with presents under the tree and it's been so much calmer and lovely. Santa has just been so I am off to bed! Smile

Cadenza12 · 24/12/2023 23:34

Yes. For the first time ever my 14 year old dog decided to have a go at the presents under the tree. I was cross, mainly because I haven't got any paper left.

OrigamiOwls · 24/12/2023 23:59

At 23:30 this evening DH announced he hasn't wrapped his presents (which is a surprise as he's normally well organised) and he's now in the spare room wrapping them all up.

DramaAlpaca · 25/12/2023 00:22

I hadn't wrapped a thing until 9 o'clock this evening. Fortunately I only had to buy for DH and our three adult sons and I had it done in two hours. Then collapsed in a heap with a large glass of wine.

TheChosenTwo · 25/12/2023 00:26

Not me tonight but it absolutely has been in the past!
quite smug right now as I was done a few hours ago, dc1 helped me bring down the last few bits that I wrapped earlier and set everything up under the tree so it all looks lovely and full and festive.
Everyone is now in bed (dh went at 9 before any of the dc but he has spent literally all day cooking 😂) and I’m just sat drinking santas rum really looking forward to tomorrow.
WFH has helped me majorly in terms of keeping on top of the wrapping, lunchtimes when everyone is out is so handy!
Good luck OP, deep in the trenches but hope you’re in bed soon.
