PlayStation 5 help

We recently bought a PlayStation 5 for our son. Neither of us have used consoles before and we are really struggling with setting it up. Can anyone help? There are two problems:

  1. I have created an account for myself as a Family Manager and my son has a separate, child's account. I have signed up to PlayStation Plus Essential Plan and I have bought two games. The problem is that, while I can see those games when I log in, my son doesn't seem to have access to them under his own log in.

  2. He also wants to be able to talk to friends on FC24 and he currently can't do that because it's only available with PlayStation Plus and it's not showing under his login.

Does anyone know how to ensure he can access the games and PlayStation Plus benefits I bought under my login, pls?

You need to add family members under the account management section of your psplus in order to share the subscription benefits.

Thanks for the reply! I have added DS under the Family Management section of my account details on the PS app. Is this what you mean or is there somewhere else I need to do it?

Think you have to enter children’s age when you set up their profiles - Maybe his age if the games are for older children? And also for the chatting. You might have to change the DOB if you’re okay with the age rating of the games and the chatting.

Did you manage to sort this OP?
We also bought a PS5 for Xmas and I have to say it's not at all user friendly compared to the parental controls on switch or iPhone!

Completely agree, @MissAtomicBomb1! I've been quite shocked at how difficult it is to work out - I expected it to be essentially plug-and-play, but it's been much more complicated.
We think we've sorted the main problem by essentially re-logging me into the PlayStation console. For some reason it wasn't registering that I had PlayStation Plus when my son was logged in, but now we've deleted and then re-added me, it seems to work. Now I just have to sort out why they have charged me twice for the subscription! 🤦‍♀️
