Houseful of guests so the normal 2 sofas (one of which is technically a 3 seater and the other a 4 seater) are being hotly contested. My preferred corner is always an issue as we moved here just before DC2 was born so it's where I always say when I bf him and then, as he's always been very cuddly and, until about 8, preferred to sit on a knee if he could, where he always sat waiting for me to sit down so he also views it as his corner. It's my Dad's favourite spot and MIL and BIL are partial to it too.
So, I could keep fighting for it but I'm spending a lot less time sitting down that my Dad, MiL or BiL so I think I'm going to give up that battle. Instead, I'm marking my territory on a chair we've brought down from upstairs. For an occasional chair, it seems surprisingly comfy and is in a position with an OK view of the TV and I can position a table near it for drinks to rest on. Originally, I was going to go for a different chair we've brought it but that's got a dire view of the TV plus it's closest to the extra drinks fridge and slightly in the way of the route to that fridge so, if anyone wants something from there, I felt I had to jump up & get it.
I'm trying to mark my territory in a subtle way so that it doesn't give the game away to others - especially DH who is also ousted from his favourite spot as that's BIL's favourite too - and they swipe it.
