I have an awful habit of doing it when I'm sat on the sofa in the evenings. Husband keeps threatening to buy me a sippy cup 🤣

no but I have walked into my bedroom with phone in one hand, tea in the other and carefully set phone on bedside table and launched a full cup of tea over the bed.
very sleep deprived at the time. Stood there I’m shock for about two minutes then ran down and cried to DH.

PostOfficeInTheCoop · 24/12/2023 18:19

Oh God, that is sleep deprived. Hope you didn't ruin the bed. The things we do when tired 😫

Falling asleep with my tea regularly, but the worst was when DS2 was a couple of weeks old, I staggered down, made a pot of coffee, poured a mug, and then poured orange juice into it instead of milk. Apparently my face was a picture.

Once husband and DSD had stopped laughing they took it away, sat me down and made me some more.

Dilbertian · 24/12/2023 18:32

Absolutely! Every pregnancy and newborn stage. I didn't drink anything hot unless I was sitting at the table, because if I was relaxing with a drink I invariably fell asleep and tipped it over.

HippyChickMama · 24/12/2023 18:41

Twice in one day once. I had a three year old and a nine year old at the time and worked nights as an A&E nurse. The first time was in the afternoon after working 3 night shifts in a row and having very little sleep in between and I didn't even realise I'd done it until dd said 'mummy, you've spilt your coffee'. The second time was that evening, luckily both cups were cold when I poured them over myself

Oh God, I was tired constantly during pregnancy. Every time I sat down I would just fall asleep. Struggled to eat dinner somedays.

I've done very similar things. Best one was I filled my bowl of cornflakes up with water from the tap 🤣

coxesorangepippin · 24/12/2023 20:22

I fell asleep leaning against the swings at the park once

MumofSpud · 24/12/2023 20:48

I fell asleep standing up on the tube once - sadly I was going OUT not coming home!!
My DH took a pic for proof!

I have also fallen asleep mid pizza (after a day at Disney)

chickenpieandchips · 24/12/2023 20:49

Yep. In bed. Poured tea over dh!

DilemmaDelilah · 24/12/2023 21:38

My children are well into adult-hood, but I have recently woken up in the night to have a drink of water (from a bottle) and woken up hours later with the open bottle still in my hand - and luckily still right way up!

madnessitellyou · 24/12/2023 22:24

Fell asleep holding a glass of red wine!

Dc are teenagers, but I'm a teacher, and it was the end of term. I was exhausted!

dishyrishi · 24/12/2023 22:34

Yes... and dropped my phone into said cuppa

OceanicBoundlessness · 24/12/2023 22:47

I fall asleep frequently in the bath and drop my phone on my face.

Littlegoth · 24/12/2023 22:49

Coffee no, G&T yes. Rude awakening when the cold drink hit my feet

LittleToasterx · 25/12/2023 08:03

Ouch... That's an expensive nap.

Yes
Holding at cuppa
At work
Watching a swimming lesson

Fortunately not while driving.

The dc were 4 and 1. I put it down to tiredness, but turns out I was massively anaemic.

DelurkingAJ · 25/12/2023 09:44

Standing up in the queue for the loos during a work training course. Turned out I was pregnant.

I have fallen asleep mid sip of tea!!
Heavily pregnant and sitting on sofa with cuppa. I took a sip and fell asleep before I swallowed it. Woke up coughing and spluttering as it had went down the wrong way.

ALongHardWinter · 26/12/2023 17:28

Never fallen asleep holding a cup of tea,but I have frequently fallen asleep and dropped a book that I was reading in bed on my face. Woke me up with a jolt every time.

OldTinHat · 26/12/2023 17:53

I fell asleep with a much wanted glass of wine in my hand after I'd wrestled my toddlers to bed and was a newly single mum.

I woke up half an hour later, still holding the full glass in my hand!
