Need a cab

My son is a policeman he's meant to finish at 7am Xmas morning. He can't prebook a cab/uber as he could end up working over time if something happens/keeps him there.. is he likely to be able to get a cab/uber at that time of the morning without booking. He could finish earlier if lucky . He can't get a lift as no one lives in my direction.. he's saying if he can't get a cab he won't be able to come and will be in his own . I don't drive or know anyone that does..

Someone else will finish at the same or similar time, maybe he could email colleagues to ask for a lift?
What does he normally do, public transport?

Big city, likely to have taxis. Rural village, perhaps more unlikely.

How far? Could he cycle?

I’m in London, zone 4, I get an Uber on Christmas Day every year, never had any problem, always plenty available.

Presumably, as he's a policeman, he's an adult with reasonable level of intelligence. I'd leave him to find his own way to you and not stress yourself about it.

Yeah, I’ve often got cabs or Ubers on Christmas Day. Lots of cabbies don’t celebrate Christmas and like the tips.

Round here I’m pretty sure Uber are offering free rides for NHS/emergency services on shift at Christmas.

I don't think it will be a problem at all. As pp said, lots of cabbies work on Christmas Day because of the demand and they can charge more.

He should definitely be able to get a cab, just be mindful that it could be quite a bit pricier than standard.
