If anyone has this at the moment would you mind sharing what your first symptoms were? I have emetophobia and am panicking it's brewing

I think it's the dreaded norovirus doing the annual rounds. My DGD (17 years old) had it a few days ago. Omg her poor mum didn't know which way to turn. It was coming out of DGD at both ends for about 8 hours. Strangely,I've never had the norovirus, despite being in close contact with people who've had it on at least 6 occasions over the last few years, and on one occasion I was clearing up after my DD who had it,but I still didn't catch it! I think there is a small percentage of the population who are immune to it. Looks like I'm one of them!

Sorry missed the point of your post! My DGD's first symptoms were feeling vaguely unwell for about 12 hours before it struck, then cramping stomach pains, and a feeling like she had 'molten lava' in her stomach. About an hour after that, she projectile vomited. Then the diarrhoea started.

Aww what a shame for her
It's so debilitating for a long time after as well

Could also be JN.1 covid, which often produces GI symptoms, and which is rising rapidly (doubled in last reporting period).

From nothing, or mild cold symptoms, to vomiting and/or diarrhoea with no real warning (sorry)

BritishDesiGirl · 24/12/2023 20:55

I believe it's norovirus-

Symptoms were to begin with excruciating stomach cramps, feverish, vomiting and diarrhea started on day 3. Couldn't keep anything down not even water.

That seems like a long time for Norovirus to hang about?
