Happy Christmas Eve! What's Everyone up to today?

Morning all!

Interested to see how Everyone spends their Christmas Eve 🎄

I'm taking the DCs (x3) and DDogs to a National Trust site this Morning to burn off some excited energy! Making a flask of Hot Chocolate and Mince Pies for after.

Then have to visit a few Friends to drop off the last of our Cards and small gifts!

In the afternoon we're decorating our gingerbread house and watching the Polar Express (for the 100th time 😁)

Undecided for dinner just yet, Xmas Eve Meal isn't really a big thing in our House and the Children are already asking for MCDonalds!

Hope to have the Stockings filled, presents under the Tree and a glass of Bubbles in hand by 9 o'clock 🥂

Just lounging on my bed with DD having a cup of tea. Going to have a shower and then dropping both DCs off to exDH, Carol shouting with my friend at the local pub and then to DMs for a takeaway with my siblings.

Will try and get a reasonably early night as off to exDHs mega early in the morning to open presents etc.
I think I've got everything ready but to be perfectly honest I can't wait for Christmas to be over so I can continue getting the DC through this absolute shambles of a year!

gingercat02 · 24/12/2023 10:55

Not long up, just relishing my first coffee. We all have a bit of a cough, so no one is sleeping well 😢
Need to wrap and do a bit of food prep. It's blowing a gale here, so my plan for an afternoon walk on the beach seems to be out.
Chinese for tea, a few 🍷 and something Christmassy on TV
Happy Christmas, everyone 🎅🧑‍🎄🌲🍾🎁❄️

Crushed23 · 24/12/2023 10:56

On my way to the airport!

Always go away for Christmas. With the exception of 2020 (Covid), I have spent Christmas Day on the beach in a bikini over the last few years. I hope to keep up that tradition as long as possible 😁

Dc gone to visit FIL, made the bread sauce, put the Christmas chocs out, done some of the veg. Dh got the beef from the butcher this morning. I have carols playing and will open the cheese later. About to cook a ham for supper. Feeling very festive!

DomPom47 · 24/12/2023 11:11

Tidying up and sorting out stockings. Husband has the kids out so makes things easier. They should be back around one having had a late breakfast outside. We will watch Christmas Chronicles. Take way pizza tonight for dinner and muppets Christmas Carol before they go to bed. Couple of glasses of bubbly for me.

user1464279374 · 24/12/2023 11:14

Have tidied the living room ready for guests tomorrow and combined a last min trip to Tesco with a run so feel awake now! Rest of the day is baking with DC, prepping food for tomorrow, setting the dining table, and last min wrapping. Church crib service late afternoon and probably a Christmas movie while we eat pizza in evening. Not relaxing especially as we're all various forms of ill, but will try to make it fun!

itispersonal · 24/12/2023 11:16

I've laid for the table for tomorrow.

Watched the snowman on channel 4, Last bits of tidying now we are all getting ready to go to walk around a stately home to see their Christmas.

Pork is in the slow cooker for late lunch / tea then muppets Christmas carol this evening with waffles and ice cream and our last advocaat of advent and maybe a glass or 2 of Prosecco

MrsMurphyIWish · 24/12/2023 11:21

At a bit of a loose end. Usually I host and spend Xmas Eve prepping (which I love!). However, we’re 6 months into a massive building project and haven’t had a kitchen since June so tomorrow we’re eating out for the first time ever. Currently DH is out for a run, I went out at 6, DCs playing Roblox. We’ll watch the Wolves game (early kick off) and then take the DCs to play football in the park (no grassroots fixtures til after New Year and they’re having withdrawal symptoms)! Feels like a normal Sunday so hoping that Xmas spirit will kick in soon!

BoyMamma2 · 24/12/2023 11:31

Normally we do an activity such park, cinema etc and then get a takeaway on way home. This year we had a woodland Santa visit planned but it got cancelled so at soft play.
not seeing family tomorrow so going out for dinner with them tonight.
In between cleaning

FizzyStream · 24/12/2023 11:32

We're all in the living room with classic MTV on. The kids are playing board games and squabbling intermittently. DH is playing chess with his dad and getting frustrated. I'm just observing and MNing quietly in the corner and refereeing where necessary.

Escapetothecatshome · 24/12/2023 11:38

Well I’ve already been out for a last minute dash to the shops, arrived early at Tescos the car park a sea of emptiness, fab I thought , only to realise the tills don’t open till after eleven 🤬 thankfully Asda was open and everyone knew it it was heaving so I’m pleased to be home, want to listen to the carols while I make a lovely chocolate log (annual tradition) except dad has in my absence pulled out the dishwasher to fit it PROPERLY ( think motherland in-laws ) and every cleaning product is decorating the kitchen, so festive . …
Later I’m commandeering the sofa and remote to watch some Christmas films x
Merry Christmas Everyone

Been to Iceland and aldi, hoovered the whole house, having a 5 minute rest before I prep the veg, walk the dog and church at 3, teens and disabled husband are all still in bed he's not having a good day im hoping he makes it down stairs tomorrow

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 24/12/2023 11:42

For once I’m all organised (lists!) and now relaxed with coffee and lots of carols on Classic. Off to DD’s at around 3 and except for the food, needing to go from fridge/freezer to cool bags, everything (masses!) is waiting by the front door for dh to load it into the car.

Now I just need to have a shower and get dressed - still in my dressing gown at 11.40! I will go and make myself presentable any minute now. 🎄🎅🏻

AnotherCountryMummy · 24/12/2023 12:01

Currently sat on sofa watching Free Rein with all three kids. Toddler asleep on my lap - think he's coming down with something, so taking today easy.

Have a ham cooking and DH has made a start on the red cabbage. I hope he's also going to mop the kitchen floor! I'll prep the veg later.

We are hoping to go for a walk after lunch, to get the Sunday papers. I also need to have a good clean round. Meeting neighbours at 5pm for mince pies.

Tonight is a seafood platter for us and ham, probably with homemade chips for the kiddos for supper.

I love reading what everybody is up to!

SeaToSki · 24/12/2023 12:21

Its my birthday, so am expecting to be spoiled 😁. I will be popping to the shops for the last minutes bits, and then we are going out for a birthday lunch. DCs will do the Christmas food prep this afternoon whilst also playing Catan and listening to Christmas tunes and being supervised by me. I will then lay the table for Christmas day and write out my game plan with timings. We will light the fire and DC1 is cooking his wonderful sausage and pasta bake for dinner. Then some baileys and stocking filling and I will probably be in bed before the dcs as Santa isnt a surprise anymore.

Crabwoman · 24/12/2023 12:31

I'm laying poolside in 25⁰ warmth. I've just strolled to the marina for lunch and slipped away to wrap a few presents on our room. Packed everything apart from sellotape, so some of the wrapping was creative!

Mostly Europeans at the hotel, so Santa arrived by speedboat on the beach and gave gifts out.

I'm just about to have a nap and then get ready for a Christmas Eve meal.

DD2 is floating on the pool on a lilo, DH is reading, and teenaged DD1 is hiding underneath a beach towel watching something on tiktok (so nothing new there).

HappyCamperTent · 24/12/2023 09:04

May as well do the cleaning yourself?

@MissBuffyAnneSummers

exactly. Why do you need to supervise the cleaning?! Cleaning is not exactly hard.

gotomomo · 24/12/2023 13:03

On the motorway in the rain, needless to say I'm not driving

U2HasTheEdge · 24/12/2023 13:05

Happy Christmas!

My turkey is about to come out of the oven and my braised red cabbage is cooking away.

My husband is wrapping presents. My two year old Grandson has no idea what Christmas is, but he is very hyper today so his parents and my older children are taking him to the park as he is causing havoc :)

daffodilandtulip · 24/12/2023 13:16

Our lovely new neighbour gets us up at 5am everyday so I had a silent cuppa or two, then we went for breakfast (teen DC). We opened Christmas Eve boxes and made an extravagant hot chocolate with the contents and in their new mugs. Now we're all snuggled down for the day under Christmas blankets, reading, with classical Christmas music playing and listening to the wind howl.

Tonight is Chinese and Muppets.

PaulAnkaTheDoggo · 24/12/2023 13:30

Suffering from covid for the first time ever. All plans on hold as I’m floored with it and extremes of any and every symptom.

WillimNot · 24/12/2023 10:42

Working from midday until at least 1am.
Pub life and the busiest (we hope) time of year
Be kind to your hospitality people today!

In between trying to prep Christmas dinner for tomorrow as we are open again for two hours in the afternoon and then for 3 hours in the evening

My DD is working in a bar/restaurant and she comes home with stories of some horrible customers. Unfortunately even Christmas doesn't make them behave any better.🙁Hope your Christmas goes well.

JenniferJupiterVenusandMars · 24/12/2023 13:55

So far I have tidied and sorted two cupboards and two drawers, cooked lunch, rearranged some of my art stuff, DH has walked the dog and now watching David Attenborough. I have ordered some special colour pencils online and treated myself to a book.
A lazy day, a quiet Christmas and all’s well 😊

WillimNot · 24/12/2023 14:00

Oh some.of them just act like pigs!

I clearly jinxed myself, had an unbooked party of 6 come in, really rude, told me I served up their food order wrong (it's written down so I showed them) and then they berated me that we no longer do Thai food.

Arseholes.

Hope your DD has a lovely day!

Bugbeau · 24/12/2023 14:01

Spent the morning getting organised then headed to the in-laws. Has some lunch, now watching Leo and then will do some baking and plat frustration. After a very busy few weeks we are loving a lazy day.
