Happy Christmas Eve! What's Everyone up to today?

Morning all!

Interested to see how Everyone spends their Christmas Eve 🎄

I'm taking the DCs (x3) and DDogs to a National Trust site this Morning to burn off some excited energy! Making a flask of Hot Chocolate and Mince Pies for after.

Then have to visit a few Friends to drop off the last of our Cards and small gifts!

In the afternoon we're decorating our gingerbread house and watching the Polar Express (for the 100th time 😁)

Undecided for dinner just yet, Xmas Eve Meal isn't really a big thing in our House and the Children are already asking for MCDonalds!

Hope to have the Stockings filled, presents under the Tree and a glass of Bubbles in hand by 9 o'clock 🥂

Waiting in for deliveries this morning and a bit of cooking then having friends over for mulled wine and cocktails, then off to first mass of Christmas with the kids, hot chocs, then a Christmas film before bed.

I love this!

Simillar day here housework, nice walk, tv, bit of baking, nip to supermarket for a few last min bits and wrapping. Pizzas and sides for dinner and a film.

Currently eating crumpets and orange juice while DD plays Spyro and DS kicks around on his play mat. Going to drop DD and DH at the swimming pool later to burn some energy, I’ll try and vacuum and tidy a bit while they’re out. Then we’re icing Christmas biscuits for Santa, off to the crib service at church and watching a Muppet Christmas Carol

Going out in a couple of hours for our traditional walk with my friend, and DC x3 and DH. Will stop at a cafe for brunch.

Then home, sort the food tasks for tomorrow and will then chill on the sofa.

Morning! I’m still lounging on the sofa with my second cup of coffee.

Miserable weather here - was hoping DP would get DD down the park to burn off some energy, but not sure that’ll happen.

Not sure what we’ll eat today - I’m so focused on tomorrow and BD!

At some point, I need to make mince pies and prep a big vat of pasta sauce for Boxing Day lunch as whole family is coming over. (Tomorrow will just be me and DD, as DD can’t cope with big gatherings and we want her to enjoy Christmas Day.)

Still got all of DD’s presents to wrap and stocking to fill. I just hope she goes to sleep at a decent time, so we’re not too knackered.

I’ve made pigs in blankets and they’re in the tin ready to cook tomorrow, I’ve par boiled and prepped half a ton of potatoes for roasties, I’ve cooked the Turkey crown and I’m now sat outside M&S waiting for it to open. After here I’ll call at the local butcher to pick up the stand pies. Then getting the kids to clean their rooms and help with the quick once over of the rest of the house 😊. It’s not child labour, they’re all teenagers 🤣

Spending the day in NICU (hdu level) with my 5 week old as I have done every day for the past weeks. Tomorrow will be less time with him due to transport issues. DH home with the big one.

We're going to my mum and dad's for Xmas dinner this afternoon where my mum will feed us all the things and load DC up with all the gifts. Not sure what to do before then, bit of house tidying for Boxing Day guests, maybe more paper chain making with DC. This evening hopefully some Xmas telly (Bake Off maybe?) and prep the stocking.

Happy Christmas Eve! I woke up late because I didn't get to sleep until after 1 am.

I plan on cleaning the bathrooms this morning, just so they are sparkling for tomorrow.

We are having bacon sandwiches at around 11:00 because we are going out to a restaurant to eat at 4pm before going to the Christmas Eve service of carols and readings at the Cathedral.
Then we will collect my chorister grandson and take him home before going home ourselves.
We will probably watch a cheesy film on the telly with a snack and go to bed!
Usually Christmas Eve would be spent prepping for Christmas Day - but it's just DH and me this year so we're not cooking or having formal meals at all, just things we can put in the air fryer when we feel like it.

Ham in the slow cooker in cola and a lot of cloves

leaving in an hour to drive an hour to the pub for lunch. I anticipate we will have to queue as its only open 12-4 and a very popular place. Then home to chill, prepare the veg and chill.

Taking my two DS to see Wonka - haven't decided which showing yet.
I also may need to get more roast potatoes.

Going round dm and meeting all siblings round there, then home to try and catch up on cleaning because I've been working all week.

Then off to see df in his care home to drop his presents off, then home for more cleaning and a takeway for dinner (kfc) whilst watching jingle all the way

Going out for Costa in about ten minutes, then on to M&S for a bottle of their cassis to make Kir Royale - my debut incidentally. This afternoon I'll listen to FONLAC on Radio 4. Pub this evening rather than going after the carols. That's pretty much all.

I'm the only one up ☹️

DM and DH were drinking last night (I was driving as needed to pick DS up) so it's a slow start for them today. DS himself is sleeping on the sofa and is doing a sterling job of snoozing on while the dogs pace expectantly for him to get up.

Dishwasher emptied, a load of laundry on and all animals fed. I'm making clattering breakfast noises but to no avail as yet. For the first time in my life I'm completely ready for the big day 😮 Will walk DDogs in a bit and then we're heading to the garden centre, Waitrose etc to absorb some Christmas cheer. DS is working this evening until 8pm, after which I will be heading shortly to bed as I've got work tomorrow.

Currently torn between being impatient to get on and secretly enjoying the peace 😉

DP is working all day today and tomorrow. Me and DS 5 & 8 are going ice skating then home for buffet tea and a few glasses of fizz and an early night.

On my first break at work here. Hopefully will be home by 6pm, but on call in case last bus - 6.40pm doesn't turn up for DD.

Fajitas, salad and extras tonight - suspect DH will have red wine lined up for tonight.

Not feeling even remotely festive. Will just be another day until 5pm when I force a smile for the kids and wear "fam jams"

I'm just off to work DP already at work. As I'm also working tommorow we are having Christmas on the 26th. Saw adult children for early Christmas 2 weeks ago as one also working tommorow and the other has a new puppy so staying at home. I miss the days l worked in an office and had long Christmas break.

Working from midday until at least 1am.

In between trying to prep Christmas dinner for tomorrow as we are open again for two hours in the afternoon and then for 3 hours in the evening

My parents, brother and his partner are coming for lunch - chicken casserole in oven. Just doing some last minute tidying now. Crib service this afternoon. Maybe a family game this evening. Then DH and I will do the DC's stockings when they're all in their rooms (they go to bed later than us these days!).

Made trifle and chocolate mousse this am and then baked the Santa cookies with the kids. They are now glued to the Santa tracker on Sky and I’m getting dressed then all of us are off to see the moving crib (animatronic) in town before they are off to sing in the choir at the children mass this evening then it’s Christmas pjs and a spin around the area looking at all the Christmas lights. Like another poster my 9 year old will then get up every ten min until she gets exhausted and overly emotional and finally collapses and we get the presents out after midnight
