Child cough for 5 months..losing my mind

I’m sorry to put this in chat but the health boards are so quiet.
my 10yr old DS has had a cough since June. Started with a bad cold and progressed into the almighty mother of all coughs. I took him to the dr 1 month in but couldn’t be seen by a GP, was told it was likely hayfever…since then I have been back twice (again not seeing GP but the paramedics on call). Was told it was asthma and given blue inhaler.

Have since seen asthma nurse and finally a GP beginning of last week. They are obsessed with it being asthma even though I have told them the inhaler makes no difference at all and his reading on the meter thing is always the same, which seems to be in normal range from googling. GP prescribed brown inhaler and antibiotics. It calmed down for a couple of days (still there but not as bad), however now the antibiotics have run out and it’s back worse than ever. No sleep..we are exhausted and worried about what it could be. GP asked for a blood test but can’t get that until end of Jan. Any ideas…please, I’m begging!

Blue inhaler didn't do much for my son, have they not offered a brown inhaler?

We.did see an improvement in his peak flow though

My 6yo has a 4-6week cycle of coughing. Have tried inhalers but made little difference, brown did for a while but after a couple of weeks back in the cycle again. Blue makes no difference and does not relieve symptoms. After a years wait saw ENT, tried steroid nose drops. Worked until steroids stopped. Now waiting for results from blood test looking for allergies 🤷🏽‍♀️

A years wait!! Guess we have that to look forward to as that’s the GP’s next step. It’s so frustrating isn’t it, especially at night. We are all at our wits end with it and I’m sick of being told it’s “just asthma”.

Going through this but with a 2 year old. Had on and off cough for last year tried a lot of things. At the beginning of the year it’s was a lot more mucussy so was convinced it was PBB and her cough disappeared after a course of antibiotics. Went mostly over summer but has been back since beginning of November. I’ve been holding off trying the brown inhaler but I’ve started her on it and will hopefully see improvement over next few weeks, I’m going to pay to see someone otherwise it’s unbearable and so much worse at night

I went through this with my ds. The brown inhaler helped him and sorting out the dust in his room, putting his soft toys in the freezer, keeping the cats out of his room etc. I started giving him vitamin D around the time his coughing stopped but it don't know if it was a coincidence. I remember it was really difficult to listen to him coughing all night
