Put some delicious carrots in the oven and they have turned black ? Are they safe to eat ? Bought last night.

Guests arrive in 7 minutes. Help.

Do you mean burnt?

MonsteraMama · 23/12/2023 18:26

So they're burnt? I mean yeah you can eat them but they won't taste nice 😂

deplorabelle · 23/12/2023 18:26

They won't be unsafe but might be burnt. Taste one to see if it's edible

Or black mould? If they are orange when you peel them then they are fine to eat, you've been sold bad carrots though.

MrsTerryPratchett · 23/12/2023 18:31

They haven't 'turned black'. They've either burned or gone off or something else. Which is it?

Doesn't matter because any of those isn't;t something you want to eat!

They are not burned. Black spots / lines have appeared on them a bit like bruises. It happened as soon as I blanched them. They were orange and healthy and delicious looking when raw.

Puree them , add butter, salt and pepper. Sprig of something to garnish.

Sounds like you've been sold old carrots. I'd cut any black off.
