Do you remember having to buy the TV and Radio times, as they'd only print their own schedules?

Yes I do!!! Was it when the cheaper TV guides started that they gave up and published each others?

MuddledMadge · 23/12/2023 21:56

Did sugar almonds used to be a Christmas food? I seem to remove my mum having those at Christmas time a lot. It doesn't seem to be a thing anymore.

I’m old enough to remember when you had to buy the TV Times and the Radio Times.

So am I ! and i am pretty sure there wasn't an alternative choice in those days.

I bought the TV Choice at £1.60 has everything I need. Pretty sure it's the cheapest tv magazine ? It will then line the cat litter tray in 2 weeks time :)

Just checkd mine and I kid you not, 109 pages of articles and whatnot before you get to the schedules. Which are even worse than usual.

Edited

Makes Readly worth it...!

I'm sure the doors were opened whereas anyone could print the schedules. I loved getting the two guides. Much better reads.

SteggySawUs · 23/12/2023 23:12

TV guide, I get one of the super cheap ones rather than radio times. Then get out my highlighter pen to mark up all the things to watch!
You've all made me realise I forgot pate 😱

ExpensiveDecorations · 23/12/2023 23:21

I am not getting the RT this year (first time) as last year I never got round to looking at it as pretty well all we watch is the darts, football and a few Christmas specials on the big day.

Quality Street
Butter with salt crystals
Frozen croissants
Posh crisps (we have a weekly tube of Pringles to share)
Appletiser

MadeOfAllWork · 23/12/2023 23:24

Regards the Radio Times I usually sign up for Readly over Christmas (there is always a free month) and then I have plenty to read including the Radio Times.

MeinKraft · 23/12/2023 23:25

Pickled onions
Random flavours of cheese
Snowballs

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 23/12/2023 23:27

Port.

Essie274 · 23/12/2023 23:30

Bailey's, Amaretto, Twiglets, Brie, Pork pie, cans of Coca-Cola

And reading this thread I've realised that I've forgotten to buy any After Eights/chocolate mints and am considering braving the supermarkets tomorrow to rectify it...

Malibu12 · 23/12/2023 23:32

Squirty cream to spray in a swirl on top of my coffee.

Chocolate milk and vanilla ice cream to make proper ice cream milkshake.

Dry roasted peanuts, smoked cheese, sausage meat to make the stuffing extra special, snowball marshmallow thingies.

Flightdelay · 23/12/2023 23:32

Watchinghockey · 23/12/2023 15:28

Usually the Radio Times but found out today that its £5.50 this year and even the DC agreed that was too much so we're not getting it this year. Probably the first time we've not bought it.

Same here this year. It’s sad because I do feel like it’s Christmas for me but for bits of paper in this day and age I just can’t justify it when I can google what’s on 🙈 tragic and I hate that life has become this yet here I am!

WaitingForMojo · 23/12/2023 23:32

Baileys
Lindt chocolate balls
After eights
chestnuts
vol au vent cases

evtheria · 23/12/2023 23:36
