Aghhh - Tesco substitutions

I know - I should have expected it. Did my online Christmas shop as soon as the slots opened. It’s coming tonight.

unavailable with no substitutes -

mince pies, custard, brandy cream, Parma ham, raspberries, smoked salmon, just roll cinnamon swirls.

know I have to go out again after doing the marks and Spencer shop at 8am.

ordering system sucks. How can Tescos have run out of all these popular Christmas foods on 23rd December!!!!!

the rage I feel seems disproportionate 😂😂

If you've got a car then why not just go food shopping basically wasted all that time online searching items anyway. Booking in advance is pointless.

I’d love to be able to pop out to the shops but even though I have a car, arthritis prevents me from being able to walk around a shop. Lots of people rely on online shopping all year round.

This is not a sad face situation! Oh the sandwiches you'll eat 😀

What I don't understand is why Morrison's substitute not with a different brand of the same thing, but with a different thing from the same brand! If I order mature cheese it's because I want mature cheese, and substituting it with mild or extra mature is not acceptable! And why oh why is it impossible to send me ANY toilet paper just because you can't give me the toilet paper I have ordered?
Some things are OK - meringue nests instead of meringue shells is fine, for me, because I'm just going to crush them up and serve them with vanilla ice cream and lemon curd. And it I wasn't going to crush them up I could probably adapt what I was going to do anyway.

My subs weren't too bad but it's the "no suitable substitute available" that gets me - I'd rather they sent me SOMETHING and let me decide at the door if I want to keep it or not, rather than to just send nothing. Potatoes, toothpaste, toilet rolls are all things in the past I found hard to believe had no suitable sub - just send any!

Or if you order e.g. a 9pk of toilet rolls which they sub for one 4pk - why not send two??!

To be fair, we ended up taking a non planned trip to Tesco and there truly were no pigs in blankets or potatoes. I am surprised about the potatoes selling out.
