Had it 2 days ago.
No infection/temperature but it hurts!
Paracetamol every 4 hours - can't have ibuprofen cos I'm asthmatic.
What else can I do to stop the pain?
Please!!

I had a root canal a couple of weeks ago. I asked about pain afterwards and was good it would be quite sore for a couple of days due to the drilling and pressure, but there should be no nerve pain as the nerve has been killed. And indeed, that was my experience. It was too sore to bite on and the injection sites were a bit sore, but no more than that.

What kind of pain does it feel like? Is it similar to before? Or more like really bad bruising? If it is like really bad bruising it should settle down - you could try co-codamol which is stronger than paracetamol. It's a shame about the ibuprofen as my dentist says it is better for that type of pain.
You say it isn't an infection.... Are you sure? If you have any doubt ring your dentist and see whether you can get an emergency appointment, or your emergency dental access centre of you have one in your area.

It would be a good idea to ask a pharmacist about the best options for pain relief. Depending on how bad hour asthma is (mine is very well controlled) they may suggest taking ibuprofen on this occasion, but I would check with them first.

It aches a lot - like a period pain in my mouth!
Will try cocodamol

I think it’s normal, mine took about a week to completely settle

I had part one of a root canal 3 weeks ago and felt nothing afterwards as there us no nerve. Back in 2 weeks for part 2.

should you be in pain at all if the nerve has been removed?

You can get adult version of bonjela, think it’s called anbesol? It’s great kind of numbs the area

I use Peroxyl mouthwash, they sell it in boots. Sort of numbs you a bit. Good luck, hope it gets better soon!

Had paracetamol & children's ibuprofen at 8 am.
Will take the heavy stuff in an hour.
