I thought it was in the sale

Warning, it’s dull one.. but I did a bit of last minute Christmas shopping in Next this week and bought three items marked down on the tag (handwritten) as being half price. I was buying so much in one go that I noticed it was a lot of money but I didn’t realise they were put through at full price. I have since wrapped and gifted these items, only to discover after that I paid full price 🤦🏻‍♀️ I would never have spent that on the person’s gift ordinarily and was only buying it as it was half price. It turns out these are the Boxing Day sale prices that have been marked on the tags early. Are shops allowed to write prices on the tags that aren’t the amount they charge? Seems very confusing for customers if nothing else 🤔 Other than going through my receipt afterwards I would never have known how much they were

That sounds naughty tbh. And I’m not sure if they can legally do that…

Very odd

No they wouldn't be allowed to do that. An item should be sold at the price shown. Not sure how you would prove it though if tags have been removed. How annoying.

In my experience, If you flag it to them at the till they sell it manually to you for the sale price, otherwise they just scan it through.
