Opticians - should these prescriptions match (photo)

Got my first bifocal glasses.

Distance vision is fine but can't read a thing. They said it'd take a while to find the right angle but I've had them 2 weeks and have trued looking at every angle and holding my book at every distance and it's no good, I've gone back to looking over them to read.

Going to pop in today if they're not busy but noticed my prescription and the slip that they tucked into the glasses case don't match. Should they?

Thanks

It may be that your reading segment needs to be larger, or they haven’t measured the pupil centres correctly. Dispensing isn’t my strong point, but it’s worth taking them in, as things haven’t improved.

The final prescription is usually the one on the A4 paper, whilst the slip looks like a focimetery reading, possibly from your old pair? It’s done to check the prescription before a new eye test.

With bifocals you keep your head still and move your eyes down to the reading segment of the lens.

Thank you. I'm hoping not to get fobbed off, I am bad at complaining!

Oh and no they don't need to match though they will. It's complicated but 2 different prescriptions can be the same. It's all about the maths.
