Anyone else stuck in Dover queuing for a ferry?

Just that really. We have been in Dover since 7.30am and missed our ferry and are still ages from reaching the port itself. It must be awful living or working here given this seems to happen every holiday.

I don't get it though. There are only a certain number of boats. Surely there can't be that many people turning up without a booking?

With eurostar not running there probably are that many people turning up without a booking.

Irritating though when we have now missed our booked ferry and will miss an appointment in Paris this evening. Anyway, that's holiday travel, I guess. Won't be doing this again!

The school holidays always come as a complete surprise to the port of Dover in the same way that winter is always a surprise to the NHS.
