The Holiday Jude Law conspiracy theory

DinosaurQuilt · 21/12/2023 23:00

Seen on UniLad from Reddit:

“A popular fan theory on Reddit is that the reason why Graham comes across as the sweetest man ever is simply because he killed his first wife, and is devising a plan to kill Amanda, too.

The theory is: "Jude Law already murdered his first wife so he could inherit her house. Now he and his sister have used the house swap scheme to get Cameron Diaz into their town while Kate Winslet can investigate and make sure Cameron has enough money and property (and no family/entanglements) to be worth the effort of seducing her and then disposing of her.

"Kate is so overjoyed to see how grand and luxurious Cameron's house is because she knows she and Jude have hit the jackpot.

"Meanwhile, Jude carefully sets up an 'accidental' meeting and manipulates Cameron to develop a relationship and get his claws into her. Everything that follows is orchestrated to carry out their plot."

That's it, Christmas is ruined...”

I’m watching it now on Channel 5 and it’s a whole different take.

Don't say that! I'm a sucker for a good love story and I love The Holiday.

PooglesWood · 21/12/2023 23:03

Anyone who creates Mr Napkin head is clearly a psychopath so I think you’re right

DinosaurQuilt · 21/12/2023 23:04

“You’re lovely”

He’s love bombing her.

This is brilliant! All of the relationships in it are as dodgy as hell but I'd never read this into it. So funny.

ZenNudist · 22/12/2023 00:00

I love the Holiday but it's kind of sad at the end because everyone still has their own lives in the UK and the US and are just having a nice new years party. I never imagine it will work out.

Stencilplasttic · 22/12/2023 00:03

Plausible

twobluechickens · 22/12/2023 08:52

I could never see the appeal of Jude Law in the past but briefly watched the scene where he and Diaz kiss for the first time and good lord he has a sexy mouth. Didn't watch the rest of it though.

😂😂

AnneLovesGilbert · 22/12/2023 09:05

I love the film and I really love this theory 😂😂😂

Thanks for sharing OP.

Herbusyness · 22/12/2023 09:14

This is a brilliant take on the storyline. Kate Winslet also ingratiates herself was the old Oscar winner next door, who seems to have no children to leave his fortune to. She might also be a massive nassicist when it comes to Rufus Sewell’s character, which is why he tries to keep a professional distance.

There should be a sequel!

Zonder · 22/12/2023 09:16

Genius!

Yes I agree there should be a sequel. Kind of Poirot style.

DinosaurQuilt · 23/12/2023 13:01

That would work, given the timeframe since the original film. One of the daughters is now grownup and in CID and takes this up as a cold case.

Zonder · 23/12/2023 22:32

Yes! Excellent idea. Who do we pitch it to?

Although I have just read this theory to my daughter and she is cross that I've even suggested that Jude Law is anything less than perfect!

determinedtomakethiswork · 23/12/2023 22:43

This is a brilliant theory!

Lunde · 23/12/2023 22:45

I love this film - but was a bit shocked the first time I watched it that a woman from LA, who lived in a secure home, would just let a drunk random stranger into the cottage to use the loo!

Pigflewpast · 23/12/2023 22:49

It’s enough of a mystery why I love the film, with its dodgy acting and even dodgier story without this brilliant mystery to add to that.
