... how much does it cost?

I'm aware that some are free, so they presumably need to rely on commission for products they recommend. But presumably truly impartial advice comes at a price, yes?

I was quoted £1800 for a london based IFA for a full financial review including pensions and investments as a minimum fee, however they said that most clients fees are covered by commission, eg taking out life insurance. I didn’t work with them but when i did later take out some income protection insurance the brokers commission was a few thousand so I guess I wouldn’t have had to pay.
