How do I put a shell on a bracelet / necklace chain?

I have a little shell I’d like to put on a fine chain for a bracelet or necklace but have no idea how to do this. I don’t know how to get one end of the bracelet in without it falling off in future!

Any ideas?

It can be tricky, as shells are quite fragile, especially if you make a hole in them. What I've done before (depending on the shape of the shell) is to make a wire '8' and then use epoxy glue or resin to set it onto the back/inside of the shell, and also reinforce the shell.
