Eyelash extensions novice here… I’ve got some questions!

I am getting semi permanent eyelash extensions tonight for the first time ever tonight (going for the classic look). I’ve wanted to try them for ages, and just have a few questions:

  1. how long will they take to apply?
  2. how long will they last?
  3. I don’t know if this will be a one off or I’ll get into the habit.. if it turns into a regular thing, do you just go for infills?
  4. can you feel them when you have them on?

l have only ever worn fake eyelashes twice in my life (for weddings so for one day only!), but I loved the look!

Reading this thread as never done fake eyelashes and wondering - why in 2024 women need to spend loads of time, money, expose themselves to nasty chemicals and risk allergic reactions to put some eyelashes?!

like really???!
It feels sad to me.

Still 2023 here

Why bother to post on a thread about this then?

I think they make people look like porn stars !

Don't be so ridiculous.

Some lashes look daft I agree, (the massive ones that look like a bottle brush stuck to your eyelid) but I have natural lashes applied and couldn't look less like a porn star if I tried.

My own lashes are very short, very blonde and thin as I'm on meds that makes my hair, lashes and eyebrows sparse so I like to have eyelash extensions. I absolutely love them and it makes my face look more normal.

I think it’s a real shame the op is receiving negative comments. Not everyone likes the same fashion, the same looks, the same hobbies. And that’s fine. There is no need for any negativity. I like fake eye lashes because they open my eyes and save time putting mascara on. And that’s ok!

Hi op I just got mine done for the first time a week ago, mine were a bit tender for 48hrs, not stingy but definitely sore. That could have been me fiddling with them though! I asked for classic and natural but ended up with very long lashes that looked like I had put on 5 coats of mascara! Never again. Any tips to encourage them to drop off would be welcome!

Hi
I had that with my eye as one eyelid starts getting red , itchy and the longer it went on it got inflamed and swelled up
and if you get a reaction once every time after will get worse
I just wear fake eyelashes occasionally now

Nic8989 · 28/12/2023 15:53

Also lvl is fantastic and around £40

your natural lashes get permed and tinted it’s a great alternative to lash extensions

Hmcs · 28/12/2023 17:14

I developed an allergy to the eye pads they used
which made my eyes and under red and sore
put it down to hayfever as never had an issues
then next time the reaction was really bad

so now my lash last buys different pads for me

so if it’s not the glue or lash you have a problem with it could be the pad

Not normal at all. Did you contact the beautician and ask them? They should have answered your original questions btw plus a patch test. Eyes are super delicate and can be easily harmed. Lash shampoo or not - if the symptoms continue, I’d be removing them asap.

Justanothermum42 · 28/12/2023 22:11

Oil. Oil helps - gently rub it on the lashes and keep rubbing it in. It softens the glue and they peel off. If you are not happy, go back and ask them to take off for you.

Hello everyone. Thank you for the useful replies.

My eyes calmed down after a few days and were absolutely fine.

However now I desperately want to get the extensions off. They are annoying me and I find myself trying to pull them off when I am half asleep.

I just tried for over an hour basically scrubbing my eyelid with baby oil and it didn’t work. I got about 5 off. Now I’ve been left with a sore and puffy eye.

Can I remove them at home or am I gonna have to go into a salon?

You really need to get them removed professionally otherwise you'll end up damaging your lashes. It doesn't take long to remove them and the should only charge around £15. It's worth it. Don't try to do it yourself, please.

needsomeinspo1928 · 03/01/2024 10:23

I am getting them taken off later by the same lady that put them on. How do they get them off?

I’ve rubbed one of my eyes so hard now with baby oil and Vaseline that it’s all red and puffy. Urgh!!!

They use a chemical which breaks down the glue.

needsomeinspo1928 · 03/01/2024 17:04

Well they’re finally off!! Never again. I just found them irritating once a few had fallen out, I wanted to pick at them. I’ll go for a LVL next time.

Just really hope my eye settles down last night from all of the scrubbing with baby oil!
