LCWRA - can somebody help?

I submitted a fit note from my doctor dated 10/10/2023

I had my capability for work assessment last week and today I received the (digital) letter informing me that I have been found as LCWRA dated 21/12/2023, so today.

I called UC who explained that there is a 3 month assessment period wait before the award starts and that I would see the first payment in my march 2024 statement.

I'm still very confused and struggling to process the what's and the why's.

Can somebody explain why there is a three month wait and what this period is for? My letter said I will no longer be required to send fit notes, but then I've read online that actually i will need to continue providing them for this 3 month period.

...Yet my GP said I won't need to see him again for further sick notes as my disability is long term, isn't going to improve and that I'm not capable for work.

I have neurological disabilities and my head is spinning with all of this and I don't understand.

Also is it the case that they don't backdate LCWRA so I'm not owed anything backdated?

Thank you for reading

You do not need to submit fit notes any more.
Your LCWRA eligibility started on 10/10, the date of your first fit note, but there is a three month 'no payment period' (I have no idea why except for Tories being bastards). So, yes, you will get your first LCWRA payment included in your regular UC payment in March 2024. The will be no backdated payments at all, sorry.

Thank you that's really helpful 🙂

Are you certain about the no back payments thing? They used to back pay up to six months.
