Christmas Day roast beef menu

If you were serving roast beef on Christmas Day (8 adults and a 12-yr old) what would your ideal accompaniments be? So far I fancy:

  • pigs in blankets
  • roast potatoes
  • potato and celeriac dauphinoise (or maybe with turnips?)
  • green beans with lemon and almonds
  • mashed carrot and swede
  • sprouts with bacon
  • maybe Yorkshire puds, if I have enough oven space!

I can make most of the above in advance and reheat on the day.

We'll probably have canapes as a starter - maybe smoked salmon blinis and something else as yet undetermined.

Christmas pudding for pud, plus another option that'll maybe be choc-based or possibly a panettone b&b pudding.

Am I missing anything that would be absolutely delicious with roast beef, and is ideally, easy to prepare in advance?! I did cauli cheese last year and it was good but I feel like with dauphinoise we don't really need it.

Maybe Yorkshire puds?! Definitely Yorkshire puds!

I would do Vichy carrots (boiled in a small amount of stock with lid on for ten mins, then 10 mins with lid off, bit of butter, parsley and lemon juice) rather than a mash.
Red cabbage
Something green like sprouts of tenderstem broccoli
Plenty of gravy and horseradish sauce

Ooh we are having beef too. I've gone for brisket that I can stick in the slow cooker as I need all the oven space I can get!

Accompanyments are non negotiable and not all 'go' with beef!

Stuffing
Pigs in blankets
Yorkshires
Cauliflower cheese
Brussels
Carrots
Peas
Cold sweetcorn (on mine only lol)
THICK Red wine gravy
Roasties
Mash
Redcurrant jelly
Hot horseradish
Mint sauce

Chocolate torte or Christmas pud to finish both with cream. Loveleh!

The beef was delicious! It was topside - cooked til about 50 degrees in the centre and then left to rest for an hour. It was maybe a shade too rare for my dad but everyone else was very happy 😂
