Antibiotic cream on mild skin infection - a question

I realise that this isn't a medical forum but just asking this in case anyone has experience in this area: I started using Fucidin cream yesterday for a slight infection on one of my fingers. I'm only to apply it twice a day but the doc said it's not necessary to apply a plaster or bandage.

I do my best to leave the area untouched after rubbing in the cream, however as there are twelve hours between applications it's pretty impossible to keep the wound 100% dry and untouched.

So my question is this - how long does the cream need to stay on the wound, untouched? For example can I wash the finger maybe an hour after the cream application? Will enough of it have been absorbed into the wound by then?

I also need to be careful that none gets in my eyes.

Just thought I'd ask prior to perhaps making enquiries with the pharmacist tomorrow.

An hour will be plenty
