Sorry if I've posted this in the wrong place but I'm new and still working the app out.
I need some advice especially from HCPs
if possible please? I just had to go collect my prescription as delivery driver is ill. The lady serving was very clearly unwell coughing & spluttering etc. Trouble is, I have a slightly weakened immune system and frankly I'm an idiot as I didn't wear a mask. Didn't think I'd need it.
Well, I'm now worrying about what I can do post-interaction to mitigate anything I may have caught? I have used hand sanitizer obviously but is there anything I'm unaware of? This weakened immune issue is relatively new to me so I've not been in this position prior to now.
I'm aware of Vick's First Defence which I'll buy. Anything else?
I wouldn't ask at any other time of the year and would just whatever comes and learn from it, but as a single parent i categorically cannot be in hospital over Christmas. DC are relying on me and would have to go to not-particularly-close relatives if I had to be admitted. Help! Thanks everyone

Firstly, try to stop worrying - stress is dreadful for immunity.

You could also try zinc & vit c supplements, they're good for cold prevention and reducing duration of colds.

Thirdly, keep warm, keep rested, good nutrition, fresh air, good hygiene etc.

Don't get stressed as that makes your body more vulnerable, get lots of sleep, stay hydrated, make sure you wash your hands (probably too late now) and don't touch your face. In future wear a medical grade mask. I wouldn't worry though I'm pretty certain your exposure was too brief to be any real danger.

MulledWineBeMine · 21/12/2023 00:26

I'm sorry I can't really help.

However, I assume your contact was brief?

stress is really bad for your low immunity situation, so TRY to forget about it (an upside of menopausal brain fog, you don't need to TRY to hard to forget stuff!!)

up the mask wearing

can you help/enable DS to get more comfortable with the people who would care for him if you were to go to hospital? Could they come & stay with you or him with them, preferably both. I think that's really important.

best wishes

Increase your intake of vitamin c by way of a supplement?

A cloth or tissue mask won't help you.

Nothing you can do

You will catch more off your children if they are at school
