So,new build estate,we all moved in middle of this year, don't really know the neighbours apart from the lady right next door to me.Not long after we moved in,postman knocks my door and says can I take a parcel for one of the neighbours as they arent in? (the back of their house is at the side of my mine),I said yes,no problem.Few days later they came and collected it from me,no thankyou just took it and left.Few weeks later, same thing happens again.

4 weeks ago, same thing happens again, neighbour not in can I take 2 parcels for them again?.I was a bit pissed off as id been on a night shift and was woken by him knocking the door with these bloody parcels,I agreed and Postman says he will pop a note through their door as usual saying parcels are at mine for them to collect.
They still haven't collected them!,they're small (feels like an item of clothing or something) so not in my way or anything but I'm thinking why should I have to go and knock their door and say "here's your parcels"if they can't be arsed to come and collect them.
Am I being an arse?
I can't find a senders address as it looks like they were delivered somewhere else first (maybe their old address)and have been re-directed to their new one.
I just think why should I have to take it to them?,surely they should collect from me?
I won't be taking in any more parcels for them in the future either!
WWYD?

I'd open it, see if it was something I wanted, if not I'd put it on marketplace.

I give my neighbours 48 hours if they’ve not collected by then, then it gets dumped on their step. I’ve only had to do this once and funny enough I’ve not been asked to take parcels of theirs since. Can’t stand rude neighbours that can’t even say thank you.

Vonesk · 24/12/2023 17:01

Do you know what, I'm sick of this parcel business. And they're robbing local high street don't forget.
If , in the past, someone took a parcel for me I think it's a good gesture to give a gift. A bar of chocolate if I knew a neighbour took in a parcel
. But I refuse now. The last time it happened I had two large consignments of bottled Wine in my lobby waiting for collection for A Week!!!!! And no offer of a bottle fas ' thanks'

I live in a housing estate and we always take other post in. Next door, across the road... whoever! We know our neighbours and it never bothers me the postman knocking with post for next door.
I'd never even consider hanging onto someone else's post, I always drop it in. It's no big deal & they'd do the same for me.

The only thing that would bother me would be the being woken up so I'd just leave a note on door saying DND, Sleeping!

If it's really bothering you, say it to neighbour but is it really that big of a deal?

Brokenmiata · 24/12/2023 18:40

Just take them round. They might think they're missing.
Can't imagine being so stubborn towards my neighbour that I wouldn't take a parcel to their door if I agreed to take it in.

Tonight1 · 24/12/2023 18:56

Even when we fell out with our neighbours we still each took in parcels/dropped them around :)

When this kept happening to me I told the delivery person to take my name off that neighbours list of contacts to leave parcels with

Never had one again from those CF

I'm happy to have them from all other neighbours as it's once in a blue moon not every other effing day like the CF who knew they wouldn't be in and just clearly added my name

There is no list! I'm a delivery driver; we literally leave parcels with whoever will answer!
But people like you who refuse to take in parcels, we'll then blacklist and if you're not in instead of trying to find a neighbour to take it for you we'll either just leave them on your doorstep or take them back for you to collect!

I feel your pain. For this parcel, as you've had it so long, I'd pop it round to them. But then going forward refuse to accept delivery. Also you can get do not disturb sign (from Amazon) that you can hang on your door so the delivery people won't knock and disturb you. I bought one for the exact same reason. Most companies give you the option to deliver to a shop or inpost/Amazon box, if you know your not going to be home, people should order to one of those. Yes, it's nice to be neighborly and help with the occasional parcel, but if it's a regular occurrence then they are taking the mick.

Throw it over the wall as it is at your side and then refuse to take in anything again.

Absolutely this, they're taking the pissing having stuff delivered to op house. Rude not to even sat thank you. CF
Op refuse next time.e postman knocks or just don't shower the door if you've been on nights

Reallyneedwine · 24/12/2023 23:58

Lots of love to you - well done for snapping back at some of the a holes on here xx

Starlightstarbright2 · 25/12/2023 00:07

When I worked from home I became postie’s go to for everyone’s address . I started refusing except for immediate neighbours as I don’t have time for multiple deliveries a day .
